About this opportunity
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Office of Acquisitions and Grants seeks a contractor for the purchase and installation of two Trane RTAF Air-Cooled Screw Chillers, each with 170 nominal cooling tons, for the National Wildlife Health Center in Madison, Wisconsin. The firm-fixed-price contract requires commercial purchase, delivery, installation on existing concrete/asphalt surfaces, connection to existing building management systems, and commissioning of the chilled water system. Contractors must demonstrate technical capabilities for outdoor air-cooled chiller systems of 100 cooling tons or larger, preferably in federal or state institutions, and provide qualified key personnel with relevant experience. The government will evaluate proposals based on technical capabilities, key personnel experience, and past performance, with technical merit significantly more important than price. Questions are due by June 23, 2025 at 12:00 PM MST, and proposals must be submitted electronically to philip.robinson@usgs.gov by June 30, 2025 at 12:00 PM MST.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors. The estimated contract value ranges between $500,000 and $1,000,000, with pricing divided into two Contract Line Item Numbers: chiller system purchase and installation services. The chillers must operate within ambient temperatures of 32°F to 105°F, maintain specific sound pressure levels below 72 dBA, and include steel leveling frames with adjustable feet for uneven surfaces. The performance period extends from July 14, 2025 to April 17, 2026, with operational readiness required by April 15, 2026. Work will be performed at the USGS National Wildlife Health Center in Madison, Wisconsin, where the new chillers will replace existing Trane RTAC units and serve approximately 30,000 square feet of laboratory space in the Tight Isolation Building.
