About this opportunity
The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced its intent on May 4, 2026 to negotiate a sole-source, firm fixed-price contract with Nordson DAGE for the Nordson Q7Pro X-ray Inspection System, with responses due by May 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern. The procurement is justified under FAR 6.302-1(b)(1) based on the vendor's unique capability to meet specialized technical requirements.
The FBI's Electronics Device Analysis Unit requires this equipment for reverse engineering semiconductor devices, failure analysis, and recovering data from locked and damaged integrated circuits. The Nordson Q7Pro was selected over four competing systems (Zeiss, Nikon, Viscom, Yxlon) for its superior 2D image clarity, noise reduction, operator-friendly workflow, dual-mode tube technology, and Onyx detector performance. Key specifications include 0.11 mm feature recognition, 20W tube power, 750x geometric magnification, 20" x 17.5" maximum board size, CT functionality, and Revolution X-ray inspection software. Delivery is required by December 31, 2027.
Interested vendors should email Allison E. Stecher at aestecher@fbi.gov to express capability and interest. The FBI notes that information received will be evaluated solely to determine whether competitive procurement is warranted; the government retains discretion to pursue competition based on responses. Vendors must be registered and current in SAM with accurate TIN, EFT, DUNS, and contact information, as the FBI's financial system interfaces directly with SAM for payment processing. This is the only notice that will be published for this acquisition.
