About this opportunity
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing, part of the Department of the Treasury, issued a Notice of Intent to Sole Source to Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions SA for make-ready sensors, with no set-aside used. The posting's due-date field lists November 3, 2026, but the notice text sets the response deadline at 12:00 PM EST, November 13, 2026. The SF 1009 justification identifies the Treasury Common Service Center as the contracting activity and BEP's Office of Currency Manufacturing as the requiring activity. The requirement covers fabrication, delivery, installation, setup, training, and commissioning of four make-ready sensors on Super Simultan Offset presses in Washington, DC and Fort Worth, Texas, with an anticipated 12-month period of performance. The government cites 6.103-1 and states that only one responsible source can satisfy the requirement, because the Super Simultan Offset platform and its sensors are proprietary to Koenig & Bauer. The justification states that non-OEM sensors would void equipment warranties and risk damage requiring repair or replacement. Interested parties must be active in SAM and submit a capabilities statement providing clear, unambiguous evidence of their ability to perform. The notice is not a solicitation, no solicitation will be posted, and the government retains discretion over whether to compete the requirement. The notice is classified under NAICS 334513 and PSC 3610.
