About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration is issuing a sole-source procurement notice for corrective maintenance service on a Siemens IR C-Arm medical device system (Model EE 226991) at VA Boston Healthcare System West Roxbury, with responses due July 31, 2026, at 4:30 PM Eastern Time. This is a notice of intent to award under 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1) and FAR Part 6, identifying Siemens Medical as the only responsible source capable of satisfying the requirement. The procurement is restricted to sole-source award; interested parties may submit responses only to demonstrate clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government, though the Government retains sole discretion to award or pursue competition based on such responses.
The IR C-Arm system in the Interventional Radiology department is currently non-operational and requires vendor-trained field engineering to diagnose and repair the equipment to Original Equipment Manufacturer safety and functional standards. The scope includes full safety and functionality testing, written authorization from Clinical Engineering for repairs beyond corrective maintenance scope, and delivery of a comprehensive service report. The estimated contract value is $26,743.20, awarded on a firm-fixed-price basis. Siemens Medical's sole-source status is justified by the requirement for OEM-proprietary diagnostic software, calibration tools, OEM parts inventory, and FDA-regulated radiological certification that third-party service providers cannot provide.
