The procurement is set aside for Total Small Business and carries a mandatory site visit on September 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM CDT at the facility's Ogden Pavilion entrance (820 S. Damen Avenue, Chicago, IL 60612).
Work must commence within 14 calendar days of award and be completed within 14 calendar days of start. The contractor must remove existing packing, inspect the stuffing box, gland, and shaft sleeve, furnish and install replacement packing rings, packing gland hardware, casing relief valve (CLA-VAL), and case gasket. If shaft sleeve inspection reveals excessive wear, the contractor furnishes and installs a replacement shaft sleeve as part of the firm-fixed-price quote. The contractor supplies all labor, tools, materials, and travel.
Personnel must meet qualifications under NFPA 20, NFPA 25, and NFPA 72 for fire pump and fire prevention system work. Work is performed during regular business hours (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) unless written approval from the Contracting Officer Representative permits extended hours for disruptive work between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. The contractor must run the pump, adjust packing glands and relief valve for proper operation, and conduct a pump test to verify operation prior to completion. The VA handles fire watch and interim life safety measures while the pump is out of service.
The deadline for submitting questions has been extended to September 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM local time. Amendment 0001, effective September 4, 2026, revised the Performance Work Statement and incorporated detailed pump images and nameplate data. NAICS 238220; PSC J045.
