About this opportunity
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, procuring on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science, seeks firm fixed price quotes for a cryogenic microbulk ASME industrial 3000-liter liquid argon Dewar with connector assembly, with quotations due May 8, 2026, at 4:00 PM Central Time. This is a Low Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) source selection; award will be made without discussions to the responsible supplier with a technically acceptable proposal offering the lowest evaluated price. Amendment No. 1 issued May 5, 2026, clarifies that average monthly liquid argon consumption is approximately 300 cubic feet (8,500 liters), with peak usage reaching 745 cubic feet (21,100 liters) per month.
Place of performance is Batavia, Illinois, with delivery FOB Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The Dewar must meet ASME industrial standards for outdoor use with stainless-steel vessel and piping construction, mounted on an integrated hot-dipped galvanized skid with maximum footprint of 83" by 70". The unit shall be rated to a minimum of 250 psig (preferably 500 psig), operate between 100 psig and 200 psig at normal operating pressure of 160 psig, and feature dual relief circuits with diverter valves. Instrumentation must include level and pressure readout with 4-20 mA (preferred) or 0-10 VDC output capability, plumbed for quick telemetry installation. VCR connection types are preferred for both liquid and gaseous argon withdrawal lines. The vendor must provide process flow diagram, compliance documentation, pressure safety device sizing calculations, 3-D model, performance data, and warranty information, and submit a Fermilab Safety Code Requirements certification form signed by a qualified employee verifying compliance with applicable national codes.
Respondents must submit completed RFP pricing, SARC (Subcontractor Annual Reps & Certs), and PUR-466 (Proposal Certifications) forms. The FFDG General Terms and Conditions for Commercial Products and Commercial Services (8.2025) apply to any resulting subcontract. NAICS code is 325120, Industrial Gas Manufacturing. Questions were due May 4, 2026, at 4:00 PM CT.
