About this opportunity
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking comprehensive medical services for the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in Chicago, IL through a Sources Sought Notice. The procurement will cover inpatient and outpatient medical services, including facility services, physician services, and institutional medical support. Potential contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database and must demonstrate capabilities in providing medical services using Medicare-based pricing models. The evaluation will focus on contractors' ability to deliver medical services, pricing structures, centralized billing capabilities, medical liability insurance levels, and readiness to initiate services. Interested parties must submit responses to the Sources Sought Questionnaire via email to Hannah Mendenhall at hmendenhall@bop.gov by December 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM CST, with all future acquisition information to be distributed exclusively through sam.gov.
The procurement is classified under NAICS code 622110 for General Medical and Surgical Hospitals, with a size standard of $47 million. The anticipated contract structure includes a base year and four potential 12-month option periods, with estimated service volumes of 113 inpatient days and 444 outpatient visits annually, plus approximately 24 six-hour optometrist sessions per contract year. No specific set-aside status is currently designated, meaning the opportunity is open to all qualified contractors. While no incumbent contractor is mentioned, the solicitation indicates the government may or may not ultimately issue a formal Request for Proposal. Contractors will be expected to propose pricing relative to Medicare rates, with the ability to offer discounts or premiums across different service categories. The government emphasizes that this Sources Sought Notice does not constitute a commitment to contract and that respondents will not be reimbursed for any information preparation costs.
