BAE Systems Land & Armaments (BAE), Santa Clara, CA. (M67854-14-C-0001), and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), McLean, VA. (M67854-14-C-0002), are each being awarded firm-fixed-price contracts for the design and development services to improve the force protection of the Marine Corps Legacy Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) Personnel Carrier Variant Platform.

The Assault Amphibious Vehicle is the United States Marine Corps' self-deploying, fully amphibious combat vehicle that supports the Joint Force and the Marine Air Ground Task Force in conducting operations across the full range of military operations. The AAV Survivability Upgrade Program is required to improve force protection and restore operational relevance to the AAV Personnel Carrier variant platform. This will sustain current capability to conduct amphibious forcible entry operations in uncertain/hostile environments and to maintain a bridge to future amphibious combat vehicles and capabilities.
