About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, VISN 11 Contracting Activity has published a Special Notice announcing their intent to award a sole source contract for robotic prescription dispensing equipment. The procurement involves a ScriptPro SP 200 Robot Upgrade along with one year of support service for pharmacy operations in Cincinnati. The VA intends to negotiate exclusively with Radformation, Inc., a small business located in New York, under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1 for situations where only one responsible source exists. The contract falls under NAICS code 339112 for Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing and will be structured as a firm fixed-price agreement. This notice serves as formal notification of the government's intention to proceed with sole source procurement rather than competitive bidding.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to inform the contracting community that the VA believes only Radformation possesses the necessary capabilities to meet their specific robotic pharmacy equipment requirements. Interested parties had until noon Eastern Time on July 3, 2025, to respond to this notice, though the government explicitly stated this was not a Request for Proposal and they intended to negotiate only with the identified source. The procurement utilizes Simplified Acquisition Procedures, indicating the contract value falls below the simplified acquisition threshold. No specific eligibility criteria are outlined since this represents a sole source acquisition targeting a single vendor. The initiative supports the VA's healthcare delivery system by upgrading automated pharmacy dispensing capabilities, which enhances medication management and patient safety within the Veterans Integrated Service Network.
