TREE & SHRUBS QUESTION AND ANSWER ATTACHMENT 1

Plant Health Care

· - Does ANC COR want the chemical products stored on site?

NO. Materials must be brought on site as needed and removed by the end of the day.

· -May we transport the products to the site daily, for scheduled use?

YES.

Will two portable mixing pads be enough for the volume and mix required?

It will depend on how much material is needed per event.

· -Technical Exhibit 9 reference the Certified Pesticide Applicator at .25 FTE. What percentage of that work is during the growing (May-October) season?

The majority (~85-90%) of all pesticide applications for trees and shrubs are performed from April – October.

-If we send two Plant Health Care technicians on a given day (for efficiency), must they both be licensed applicators?

YES, anyone applying pesticides at ANC/USSAHNC must be a Certified Applicator.

Planting

What is the maximum diameter for planting the largest tree to be planted?

Almost all trees planted at ANC/USSAHNC are in the 2-3 inch caliper range. Any tree larger than that to be planted will be for specialty occurrences which are rare.
