Mansfield RFI Answers #4

THIS ANSWERS SEVERAL RFI’S THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY OVERLOOKED.

THERE ARE NOW FOUR (4) AMENDMENTS; ALL FOUR (4) MUST BE ACKNOWLEDGED ON YOUR PROPOSAL.

1. Question:- Specification 331216 Utility Valves and Accessories specifies the use of double disc gate valves for the water system. I have spoken with both American Flow Control as well as Mueller regarding this specification. Neither of those manufacturers make a double disc gate valve in 3”-10”. Is the use of a resilient wedge gate valve acceptable?

Response: This would be acceptable.

2. Question:- Specification 331216 Utility Valves and Accessories as well as detail 8 on C502 call for the valve boxes to consist of a cast iron cover, lid and base casting with a 6” ductile iron shaft. The outside diameter of 6” DIP is 6.90 inches. The standard #6 cast valve box base has a clear opening of 7 inches. Is it the intent to have the 6 inch shaft slip through the valve box base? Would the use of a 3pc valve box, manufactured by one of the approved manufacturers be acceptable?

Response: The 3pc valve box would be acceptable. Verification with the Government would be required.

3. Question: Specification 331100 Pressure Pipe indicates that pressure class 250 is to be used for the 6 inch fire water and AWWA C900 PVC is to be used for the water in sizes 2 inch trough 10 inches with a minimum pressure class of 250 psi. The thickest wall AWWA C900 PVC pipe that is currently manufactured is DR 14 which is currently classified as a 200 psi pressure class. Is AWWA 900 DR 14 acceptable?

Response: Approved.

4. Question: Plan sheet C300 and sheet C303 show four roof drain connections to the proposed 12 inch and 18 inch RCP. I have not been able to determine what size pipe is required at these locations.

Response: Pipe shall be size sufficiently to handle the downspouts as shown on the architectural plan F-A102.

File details come from the government source that posted it. Updated .
