About this file

This document provides specifications for herring spawning observers required as part of the Redwood City Maintenance Dredging 2023 federal contract opportunity issued by the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District San Francisco. The contractor must provide trained and qualified herring spawning observers during any dredging operations occurring after November 30, with observer resumes due to the Government by November 14. Observers are required to have a biology degree with fish emphasis and San Francisco Bay experience. They must observe and record spawning activities daily using the log format in Attachment 1, submitting logs to the Government, CDFW and COR on a daily basis. Dredging will stop if the observer notifies the contractor that spawning activity is within 500 meters, resuming only with Government permission. Any material dredged after November 30 must be placed at an upland site benefiting aquatic species as directed by the Government.
