Questions that have been responded to are as follows and will be incorporated into a forthcoming Amendment.

Question Submitted on September 4, 2009 by Crowther Roofing

Question: “Upon review of the specification section 07 51 13, Built-up Asphalt Roofing, we found under section 2.2 Fiberglass Felt Materials, a. Venting Base Sheet. The wrong material is specified. The ASTM D 4897, Type II is designed for high moisture content substrate, and not over the type used on this project. It is also designed to be mechanically fastened or spot mopped to the substrate, and not mopped solid. The proper Fiberglass Base Sheet is the ASTM 4601, Type II product. I have attached product data sheets on these two products.

You can also apply four piles of the Ply Felt in lieu of the base sheet, which the manufacture’s would rather see.”

USACE Response to Question: The Venting Base Sheet should be ASTM D 4897, Type II as specified. USACE has specified the correct product for the application.

USACE Response to Question #6: Contractor shall refer to Drawing Sheet A-04.

Question #7. “S-01 refers to the same line I believe in question #4 tying into an underground plastic floor drain collection unit. Is this new or existing? What exactly is this system? It is not shown on mechanical drawings.”

USACE Response to Question #7: Contractor shall refer to Drawing Sheet A-04.

Question #8. “Verify that the roof drainage and cooling tower drain line are to dump into the Canal.”

USACE Response to Question #8: This is a new drainage system. See Drawing Sheets A-04 and S-06 for details.

Question #9. ”Plumbing spec calls for floor drains, area drains and floor sinks, however none are shown on the drawings. Please provide locations, quantities, and details of these items.”

All the paperwork has to be maintained and it appears a commissioning agent needs to be hired. Please confirm that a commissioning agent has to be hired and clarify if the cost of this commissioning agent is to be carried in our bid.”

USACE Response to Question #12: Per Solicitation Section 23 08 00.00 10, Paragraph 1.3.2 formal LEED certification is not required; however, the Contractor is required to provide documentation that meets the LEED Energy & Atmosphere (EA) Prerequisite 1, Fundamental Commissioning.
