QUESTIONS 105-115

105. Question: Addendum 3 Item one says "lead remediation shall be limited to that required to achieve the structural strengthening…". What about lead abatement at the steel over the hanger doors? The drawings note them as containing lead and spec 09970 says to remove all paint (this area is not mentioned in the testing report).

Should we include lead abatement for this? What about the paint on the concrete towers and hangar doors? Do these contain lead? They were not tested.

105. Answer: The paint on the exterior structure over the hangar bay doors does not contain lead. There are numerous coats of existing paint on this structure that are to be removed in order for the new paint to adhere properly. The paint on the hangar bay doors does not contain lead. The paint on the concrete towers does not contain lead.

106. Question: Are the existing inner wall panels ACM? They were not tested or mentioned in the report?

106. Answer: These panels have not been tested. See the answer to #107

107. Question: Follow up on question 20. You indicated that all ACM and lead shall be remediated as part of this project whether or not it is specifically called out on the drawing and specifications. Please clarify if additional remediation not called out on the drawings or specifications would be considered a change to the project scope.

107. Answer: Correct, any additional remediation that is not called out on the drawings or specifications would be considered a change to the project scope and adjusted accordingly through Base Contracting during Construction. Please see Addendum #3 for clarifications regarding lead abatement.

108. Question: Follow up on Question 46 (part 1). Does this response apply to all areas with sheathing or just the detail for 10/A5.2? What does the sheathing attach to in other areas?

108. Answer: This will apply to all exterior walls between existing metal wall girts.

109. Question: Follow up on Question 46 (part 2). 10/A5.2 Studs have been added to support the exterior sheathing, but what supports the 5/8" sheetrock on the interior?

109. Answer: The 1975 set of hanger renovation drawings show 2-1/2” metal studs at 16” oc on the interior side. See sheet A6 of the existing building drawings provided for reference.

110. Question: is a gypsum thermal barrier required under the specified roof insulation (XPS)?

110. Answer: No

111. Question: would Polyisocyanurate of the same R-value be considered as an alternative to the XPS insulation?

111. Answer: Please see Section 01600 Paragraph 1.5.A.2 and Section 01300 Paragraph 1.7.B.

112. Answer:

113. Answer: For two people each. Rated at 5000 lbs.

114. Question: In lieu of a lanyard, the manufacturer of the fall arrest system recommends a 30-foot Self-Retracting Lifeline (SRL) because of shorter fall distance and the user will be able to tie-off at ground level. Would you approve this change?

114. Answer: No substitutions will be considered during the bidding phase, see specification section 01600, Section 1.5 / A2

115. Question: Reference Specification Section 09260-2.3-F Exterior Sheathing. Was this changed to CDX plywood per the amendments?
