Character of Materials
SJH Channels and Berths Uppermost layer: soft clay and silt with trace amounts of shell. Trash, debris, and rock fragments have been encountered during previous dredging.
Unconsolidated sediments consisting mostly of silt (ML) and clay (CH). Moderately hard to soft, vuggy limestone encountered at various depths below unconsolidated sediments.
Borrow Area outside Cut-6 Silty and clayey sand (SM and SC), and fine grained poorly-graded quartz sand with silt (SP-SM) with varying amounts of sand to gravel-sized shell and rock. Frequently soft to moderately hard limestone and sandstone layers present in borrow area.
See Geotechnical Data Report for more information
Potential Construction Challenges
Dredging near existing structures of unknown age and stability, vibration monitoring required Blasting is not authorized for this project
