About this file

This document is an amendment to a solicitation for the Maintenance Dredging of the New York and New Jersey Harbor, Port Jersey Channel, New Jersey, Federal Navigation Project. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, is seeking to dredge approximately 420,000 cubic yards of material from the Port Jersey Channel to a depth of -50 feet Mean Lower Low Water plus 1-foot allowable overdepth. The dredged material will be transported and placed as remediation material at the Historic Area Remediation Site approximately 5 miles east of Sandy Hook, New Jersey. The proposed work must be performed using a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket due to local environmental restrictions. The contractor will be required to maintain a minimum production rate of 6,000 cubic yards per calendar day, or 1,000 cubic yards per calendar day when dredging over the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission utility corridor. The work is estimated to cost between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000, and the government intends to award the contract in August 2024 with a notice to proceed within 14 calendar days of the award. Liquidated damages of $2,520 per calendar day of delay will be assessed until the work is completed.
