About this file

This document contains an amendment to a federal solicitation for maintenance dredging services. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, is seeking to dredge approximately 370,000 cubic yards of material from the Port Jersey Channel in New Jersey to a depth of -50 feet MLLW plus 2 feet of overdepth allowance. Dredged material consists primarily of silt, sand and clay and must meet all applicable environmental standards for ocean placement. A mechanical dredge with environmental bucket is required due to water quality permit restrictions. Multiple ocean-going barges and tugboats will also be needed to transport dredged materials approximately 5 miles east of Sandy Hook, New Jersey to the Historic Area Remediation Site placement area. The contractor must commence work within 5 days of notice and maintain minimum production rates of 1,000 cubic yards per day when dredging over utility infrastructure, and 6,000 cubic yards per day elsewhere. Liquidated damages of $2,144 per day will be assessed for delays. The estimated value is between $5-10 million and work is to be completed between June 2020 and January 2021.
