About this file
This document outlines a federal contract opportunity for maintenance dredging of portions of the New York and New Jersey Harbor, Port Jersey Channel issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District. The solicitation seeks a contractor to remove approximately 370,000 cubic yards of selected shoals from the Port Jersey Channel to a depth of -50 feet MLLW plus 2 feet allowable overdepth using mechanical dredging equipment. The dredged material, consisting primarily of silt, sand and clay, must meet all applicable environmental criteria and will be placed at the Historic Area Remediation Site approximately 5 miles east of Sandy Hook, New Jersey. Offerors must be able to commence work within 5 calendar days of notice and maintain minimum integrated production rates of 1,000 cubic yards per day when dredging over a utility corridor, and 6,000 cubic yards per day elsewhere in the channel. The work is estimated to cost between $5-10 million and take place from June 2020 to January 2021, with liquidated damages of $2,144 per calendar day for delays.
