Fire Station Site (Borings FH-B1 through FH-B4)
Soil Profile
The general stratigraphy encountered in the test borings consisted of indigenous sand soils with trace amounts of intermixed silt. The near surface sand soils contained trace amounts of intermixed organics. Bedrock was not encountered within the depths explored at the boring locations. SPT “N” values obtained in the upper 4 feet of cohesionless sand soils ranged from 4 to 8 indicating a “Loose” relative density. SPT “N” values obtained below a depth of 4 feet ranged from 15 to greater than 50 indicating the relative density varies from “Firm” to “Very Compact”.
Groundwater Conditions
Free standing water was encountered in the borings at depths ranging from 8.9 to 11.7 feet upon completion of overburden drilling and sampling. The following table summarizes the depths and elevations groundwater was encountered in the borings.
Approximate Depth and Elevation of Groundwater Boring No.
Ground Surface Elevation (feet)
Approximate Depth of Groundwater (feet)
Approximate Elevation of Groundwater (feet)
FH-B1 641.84 11.0 630.84
FH-B2 642.20 10.6 631.60
FH-B3 643.47 8.9 634.57
FH-B4 645.27 11.7 633.57
It should be expected that groundwater conditions could vary with location and with changes in soil conditions, precipitation and seasonal conditions.
