About this file
This document provides guidance on the Real Property System Standard (RPSS) used by the Defense Health Agency. The RPSS establishes the standard hierarchy and nomenclature for inventorying and maintaining the Agency's real property installed equipment and personal property. It provides guidance for conducting equipment surveys, outlines reliability-centered maintenance procedures and industry standards, and recommends traditional preventative maintenance approaches. The document discusses challenges to inventory management like version control and updating the standard. It also presents best practices for externally labeling equipment like parking lot lights and fire barriers. Going forward, the RPSS aims to interface with the LogiCole and ESMS Builder systems to facilitate replacement planning and link the demand for repairs to the end of estimated asset lifecycles. Feedback from industry partners is sought to further improve the RPSS guidance.
