Attachment 0002 – Original Tolerance Requirements for World Machine Works BP 150 Horizontal Boring Mill at Red River Army Depot (RRAD)

RRAD’s World Machine Works BP 150 Horizontal Boring Machine was designed to meet or exceed the following specifications:

TABLE I

Size and Capacity

Spindle:

Diameter5.9 in, (150mm)
Spindle nose taperANSI B5.50 #50
Feed stroke {"Z" Axis)39.37in (1000mm Minimum)
Range of feeds - infinitely variable.0004 in/rev to 787 IPM (0.010 – 20m/min)
Rapid traverse200 IPM
Drive motor49Hp
Speed range - infinitely variable10-2500 RPM
Constant horsepower190-2200 RPM

Milling/boring feeds; W Axis· Range of feeds - infinitely variable .0004 in/rev to 787 IPM (0.010 - 20mimin) Rapid traverse 787 IPM(20m/min)

Column:

Vertical spindle head travel (Y-axis) 108" minimum

Column runway:

Longitudinal column travel (X-axis) 393.7 in (l0m)

Column Ram travel:

Horizontal column cross travel (W-axis) 47.2 in to 59.1 in (1200mm to 1500mm)

Note: Horizontal column cross travel (W-axis) can be accomplished by the use of a collinear ram in addition to the live spindle or a movable column type machine configuration.
