The water connection shall meet all criteria of Section 01 10 15 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS, Paragraph “Water Distribution System” and in accordance with the AED Design Requirements. A backflow prevention device shall be included in the service line connection(s). A pre-fabricated concrete valve vault with waterproof/dustproof lid for maintenance is required for each backflow preventer. The existing system within the proposed new Female Compound is shown in Appendix “J.” The Contractor will confirm the location and size of the existing water transmission lines. Upon completion of the project, the new female compound water distribution system shall be tied to the existing male compound distribution network along the north side of the property in order to form a complete piping loop so as to equalize system distribution pressure. This is shown on Appendix “L” as new work on the existing pipe distribution drawing.
2.4.1.2 EXISTING MALE COMPOUND SOUTHWEST AREA WATER DISTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS
The work relative to southwestern area of the Male Compound plumbing system will consist of replacing the existing plastic ground water storage tank system with a new 100,000-liter concrete ground water storage tank. In addition, the contractor shall provide an elevated 25,000-liter tank and the means of conveyance between the new 100,000-liter tank and the elevated tank. The elevated tank shall be the new pressure source for the existing distribution system. The new ground and elevated water storage tanks shall be implemented into the system downstream of all filtration and sanitation components. The contractor shall field verify the treatment system arrangement and design and construct alterations to that system to meet the above stated requirements. The locations of the new tanks are shown on Appendix “B”.
The Contractor will perform geotechnical investigation at the designated location to determine requirements and site preparation for support of ground tank.
