About this file

This is a command briefing presentation dated February 24, 2025 for the U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground (DPG) in Utah, providing an overview of its mission, capabilities, and future initiatives. The briefing outlines DPG's role as a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) responsible for testing nearly all Department of Defense chemical and biological defense capabilities, including protective gear, detectors, and decontamination systems.

The presentation details DPG's workforce of 2,214 employees contributing $267M to Utah's economy, its remote location 80 miles from Salt Lake City, and its extensive testing facilities covering 1,252 square miles. Key FY24 activities include 134 test events focused on chemical/biological detection systems (NBCRV-SSU, AVCAD, PCAD, CVCAD), protection equipment (UIPE), and specialized training for military units. Future initiatives highlight development of capabilities for testing nontraditional agents, pharmaceutical-based agents, implementing artificial intelligence/machine learning, and infrastructure improvements including a new Chemical Test Facility and 2MW solar field. The facility faces challenges related to its remote location, including workforce retention and increased operating costs.
