About this file
This document is an Asbestos Management Plan for several buildings on a military base. The plan identifies the asbestos-containing materials (ACM) present in Buildings 44, 45, 46, 50, and 51, including the type, location, and condition of the ACM. The recommended actions are to include the ACM in a recurring preventive maintenance program with regular inspections, and to consider removal if the areas are included in any repair or construction projects. Buildings 45, 46, and 47 are scheduled for demolition around 2024. Buildings 50 and 51 have been determined to be asbestos-free.
The related federal contract opportunity is for the demolition of Buildings 45-47. The solicitation, W50S8K24QA001, is for the carefully demolition of these three buildings so that the building materials can be salvaged and reused for repair work on other base buildings or for reconstruction at another location. A pre-quote site visit has been scheduled for 30 July 2024.

Asbestos Management Plan 2023 15
Building 44: Building 44 is the Hq Specified and Warehouse facility. The building was constructed in 1895 with a total floor space of 21,787 sq. ft.
Homogeneous Areas: The visual survey resulted in the identification of five potential ACM homogeneous areas as described below.
1. 12x12" white floor tile located in the battlefield gear storage area and throughout the north half of the main floor is considered NON-ACM. This sample tested negative for asbestos.
However, due to cross contamination from the asbestos containing mastic, if the tile is involved in a renovation or construction project, it must be treated as ACM.
2. Mastic under the 12x12" white floor tile is considered ACM. This sample tested positive with 05% chrysotile asbestos
3. 9x9 dark brown floor tile located in the front entryway and throughout the south end of the main floor is considered ACM. This sample tested positive with 05% chrysotile asbestos.
4. Mastic under the 9x9 dark brown floor tile is considered NON-ACM.
5. 12x12 beige floor tile located near the basement exit door and throughout the basement is considered NON- ACM.
Recommended Action: The asbestos containing material was found to be in good condition and does not pose a threat. No immediate action is required. The material should be included in a recurring preventive maintenance program whereby inspections are made every six months or as needed. If the condition deteriorates, repair or removal should be performed. Removal must be considered if the areas are included in a repair or construction project. Actions taken to repair or remove the ACM should be annotated in the "Changes that Affect Sample Summary'' section of the plan.
