About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document clarifying uniform and identification specifications for the Rags Cleaning Services solicitation W50S6W-26-Q-A001.

The document addresses five primary categories of uniform requirements for Vehicle Maintenance personnel at the 113 Logistics Squadron. Regarding uniform type, the Government confirmed that one-piece dark blue coveralls are acceptable alternatives to the specified two-piece uniform (pants and short-sleeve button shirt), particularly given their common use in aircraft maintenance and cleaning operations. For fabric composition, a durable poly/cotton blend (such as 65/35) is acceptable and aligns with industry standards for industrial laundering and extended wear, with no requirement for 100% cotton. Concerning shirt specifications, front-button closures are preferred to prevent scratches on automotive bodywork; however, zippers or snaps are acceptable if equipped with additional protective cloth layers to prevent surface damage. Patches must consist of cloth material in industry-standard sizes with legible embroidery—specifically, one name patch on the front right and one "113 Logistics Squadron" patch on the front left as worn. The contractor is responsible for supplying uniforms with patches pre-attached. Regarding color standards, the Government specified navy blue or dark blue in industry-standard shades with no specific Pantone reference required, with the primary objective being sufficient color depth to conceal dirt during maintenance operations.

Solicitation: W50S6W-26-Q-A001 Questions and Answers

1. Uniform Type

· Is a two-piece uniform (pants and short-sleeve button shirt) strictly required?

This is the requirement for Vehicle Maintenance because these members will be utilizing the items all day as they work on multiple vehicles in the compound and possibly in response to breakdowns (mobile maintenance) across the installation. The members must be able to remove the top portion (2 piece) as needed dependent on weather, type of maintenance, or vehicle to be repaired.

· Or would one-piece coveralls (overalls) in dark blue be considered acceptable for this requirement, given their common use for aircraft cleaning and maintenance personnel?

See above

2. Fabric Requirements

· Is there a specific required fabric composition (e.g., 100% cotton vs. cotton/poly blend)?

A blend is acceptable according to industry standard

· Would a durable poly/cotton blend (e.g., 65/35 or similar) be acceptable, considering its suitability for industrial laundering and extended wear?

See above

3. Shirt Specifications (if two-piece is required)

· Does the shirt need to be button-front, or would other closures (e.g., zipper or snap) be acceptable?

Front button is preferred to reduce scrapes or scratches on automotive bodywork. Zippers or snaps would be considered if they have an additional protective cloth layer that covers them while in use, so they don’t scratch or mar the paint/surface.

· Are there any requirements regarding pocket configuration or placement for patches?

Patches – Two patches, one on front right as worn would be the name of the member, one on front left as worn would state “113 Logistics Squadron”

4. Patches and Identification

· Are there specific size, placement, or material requirements for name/company patches?

Patches should be of similar material to the uniform (cloth) and should be large enough that the writing/embroidery is legible – Industry standard sizes are acceptable.

· Will patches be provided by the Government, or should the contractor supply and apply them?

The contractor will supply the uniforms with the patches already attached.

5. Color Standard

· Is there a specific shade of dark blue/navy (e.g., Pantone or standard reference) that we should follow?

Navy Blue/Dark blue – Industry standard for Vehicle Maintenance – there is no requirement for a specific color as long as the uniform can hide dirt well.
