About this file
This document contains vendor questions and agency responses for Bid 43366 for the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) Statewide Pallets. The IDOC is soliciting bids for the supply of 100% recyclable plastic and aluminum pallets to replace wooden pallets at all of its correctional facilities. The bid specification calls for virgin high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic pallets with approximate dimensions of 6.25-6.3 inches in height, and the agency has confirmed that they can accommodate pallets with heights of 6 or 6.5 inches. The agency has also clarified that the "open deck" terminology refers to any deck pattern that is not 100% solid surface.
Regarding pricing, the bid documents indicate that the IDOC has a preference for virgin HDPE plastic over recycled material. The agency has also noted that there is no universal pallet storage system currently established across the state, and the dimensions provided are meant to accommodate various existing systems at each facility.
