About this file

This file is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for the United States Coast Guard Ketchikan New Carpet Requirement solicitation. The Q&A addresses contractor inquiries regarding the carpet removal and installation project at USCG Base Ketchikan, Alaska, with an anticipated award and start date in November 2026. Key clarifications include: no asbestos abatement is required as no flooring will be removed; the contractor must provide color swatches in at least six choices per color family, with blue and grey families preferred; all rubber cove base shall be replaced with color choices available, while wood cove base may be reused if in suitable condition after cleaning and nail hole filling; the site has a truck-height dock for deliveries; the existing subfloor in the administrative area is concrete; installation should be phased by building to minimize disruptions; on-site storage is extremely limited, requiring contractors to estimate storage needs or provide off-site storage if the government cannot accommodate; and the contractor is responsible for securing and maintaining a rental roll-off dumpster for old carpet disposal throughout the contract duration. Award will be made to the lowest priced, technically acceptable, qualified contractor and is contingent upon the Coast Guard securing proper funding.
