About this file
The document is a specification for Tier 2 GPS radiocollars for the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The collars must have a minimum of 4 GPS locations per day with a 36-month battery life, a built-in mortality sensor, and an optional drop-off mechanism. The GPS data will be available in real-time via the Iridium network and accessible through a web-based data portal. The VHF schedule is 8-12 hours per day in the frequency range of 159.000 - 161.000 or 216.000 - 220.000 MHz. The collars must also provide identification tags with instructions to return them to the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
The specification includes optional items such as a drop-off mechanism, identification tags, and an expandable collar section. Pricing for these optional items will not be considered in the bid award, and the State may elect to order them on an as-needed basis. The related state and local contract opportunity is for wildlife tracking collars, with the jurisdictions involved being Washoe County and the City of Reno.
