About this file
This is an asbestos sampling analysis report prepared by EMSL Analytical, Inc. for Tetra Tech EM Inc on behalf of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) HVAC system project. The report documents the results of bulk material testing for asbestos content in HVAC-related samples collected on April 28, 2026, and analyzed on April 30, 2026, using the AHERA Method (40 CFR 763 Subpart E Appendix E) with Polarized Light Microscopy. Eight samples were tested from pipe mudding sections (four sets of mudding and insulation), air handler coverings, and related insulation materials. The analysis was completed and reported on April 30, 2026, with all results received by the customer on April 29, 2026 at 10:15 AM.
All samples tested negative for asbestos presence. The pipe mudding samples consisted primarily of non-fibrous materials with white appearance and non-asbestos components, while insulation samples contained glass fibers (98%) with minimal non-fibrous material (2%). The air handler covering samples contained a mixture of cellulose (25%), glass (60%), and other non-fibrous materials (15%) with brown, white, and silver appearance. All samples met quality control criteria and method specifications, and the testing was performed by EMSL Analytical's accredited Indianapolis laboratory (NVLAP Lab Code 200188-0) under analyst Kailee Konyshak's supervision. The findings confirm that none of the HVAC materials sampled for the vestibule system contain asbestos, which is relevant to the demolition and replacement activities outlined in the Terminal Parking Garage Vestibule HVAC System Design-Build project.

EMSL maintains liability limited to cost of analysis. Interpretation and use of test results are the responsibility of the client. This report relates only to the samples reported above, and may not be reproduced, except in full, without written approval by EMSL. EMSL bears no responsibility for sample collection activities or analytical method limitations. The report reflects the samples as received.
Results are generated from the field sampling data (sampling volumes and areas, locations, etc.) provided by the client on the Chain of Custody. Samples are within quality control criteria and met method specifications unless otherwise noted. The above analyses were performed in general compliance with Appendix E to Subpart E of 40 CFR (previously EPA 600/M4-82-020 “Interim Method”) but augmented with procedures outlined in the 1993 (”final”) version of the method. This report must not be used by the client to claim product certification, approval, or endorsement by NVLAP, NIST or any agency of the federal government. Non-friable organically bound materials present a problem matrix and therefore EMSL recommends gravimetric reduction prior to analysis. Unless requested by the client, building materials manufactured with multiple layers (i.e. linoleum, wallboard, etc.) are reported as a single sample. Estimation of uncertainty is available on request.
