About this file

This document is a Scope of Work for Recreation Independent Contractor Classes issued by the City of Milpitas' Recreation and Community Services Department. The request seeks independent contractors to provide recreational and community service classes during the Spring season, covering various categories including arts and music, enrichment, parent and me, sports and fitness, and technology for participants ranging from pre-k to seniors. Contractors must complete a Class Proposal Form and demonstrate relevant work experience, education, and professional credentials. The opportunity involves multiple submission dates for vendor evaluation, specifically on September 18, December 4, and April 24, with vendors being pre-qualified to submit specific class proposals for upcoming seasonal offerings.

The contract terms stipulate that selected contractors will receive 65% of resident class fees collected, with the City imposing a non-resident fee surcharge. Contractors are required to provide comprehensive documentation including a $1,000,000 Commercial General Liability insurance policy, Workers Compensation Insurance, a W-9 form, and a Milpitas Business License. While contractors can set their own class prices, the City reserves the right to approve or reject any class proposal and may provide feedback on pricing. The contract period aligns with the Spring season, taking into account city holidays, special events, and the Milpitas Unified School District calendar, with specific dates noted for planning purposes.
