This is a site location photograph related to an HVAC installation project for the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) at the Sylmar Satellite Facility located at 909 Telegraph Road, Rising Sun, Maryland 21911. The project involves the installation of a new 42,000 BTU three-zone mini split system configured with 9,000 BTU units for the office and meeting room, and a 24,000 BTU unit for the loader bay. The reference equipment specified includes a Mitsubishi HyperHeat M-Series H2i MXZ-SM42NLHZ outdoor condenser with Mitsubishi MSZ-GX indoor units, though substitute models and brands of comparable quality are permitted with pre-approval from SHA. The scope includes removal of an existing through-wall air conditioning unit in the meeting room and preparation of wood and drywall surfaces to close and seal the resulting exterior wall opening. Site inspections are available to assist bidders in preparing accurate proposals, with contact available through the main Cecil County shop at 410-398-1565 to schedule facility visits.

The bidder must be a licensed HVAC company with three references for ductless mini split installations, with the license held in the name of both the bidding company and the performing company. While subcontracting is normally prohibited on small business contracts, electrical work may be subcontracted, preferably to another small business with fewer than 100 employees, or retained in-house by bidders with licensed electricians on staff. SHA will provide a single lump sum payment covering all costs, including electrical permits required for quality control purposes. Bidders must factor electrical work and permitting costs into their bid price. The SHA Division 2 safety compliance employee may conduct site visits to verify OSHA and Maryland OSHA (MOSH) compliance and provide safety feedback during the installation process.
