FIRM CAPABILTIES - SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION

Our knowledge of subsurface conditions throughout Florida and most specifically in Pinellas County, based on our experience and tens of thousands of borings and wells, has facilitated one of the most comprehensive geologic libraries in the state.

Accurate subsurface data is critical in designing projects that are “constructible”, from a foundation cost perspective, and we have earned a reputation for supplying equipment that gets the job done right, the first time. Our inhouse fleet is one of the most sophisticated and diverse fleets of investigative equipment to be found in Florida. From our rotary and auger rigs to customized aluminum barge and swamp equipment, we can access virtually any site on land or water. In addition, we operate a electronic cone penetrometer for performing in-situ studies or discreet and non-intrusive investigations, particularly in heavily populated areas or business districts.

A key element of our success is having the ability in-house to maintain our equipment and deliver it to the project as scheduled. We control our response and are not dependent upon subcontractors. A fully equipped and staffed maintenance facility provides maintenance while our specialized delivery equipment makes us unique in the industry.

FIRM CAPABILITIED – QUALITY CONTROL / QUALITY ASSURANCE

Our experience in the testing and inspection of deep foundations is unsurpassed in the state of Florida. From drilled shafts for the Sunshine Skyway to to 24” concrete piles for the Fort Lauderdale Runway Expansion , H2R has a resume of landmark delivering reliable, defensible and quality testing and inspection services on drilled shaft and driven pile foundations. Of note is that we developed the Florida CTQP and FHWA courses on drilled shafts and driven piling.

The use of Dynamic Pile Testing Equipment on driven pile foundation projects has been recognized in the industry as the preferred method for determining critical pile driving criteria. H2R is not only highly qualified in these testing and inspections, we are also product developers for the very tools the industry depends on.

H2R maintains 8 dynamic load testing machines, operated by experienced Registered Professional Engineers. Furthermore, to assure a high quality of our data collection and analyses, our deep foundation engineers are certified by taking Dynamic Measurement and Analysis Proficiency Test which many organizations or agencies requires to demonstrating some specified level of ability in dynamic testing. This translates into a thorough and responsive service to our clients. Furthermore, our pile driving Inspectors are well trained and are familiar with the terminology, equipment and process details pertaining to pile installation. They are also very well versed with Foundation Plans, Standard Specifications and related details of the Construction Project Administration Manual and are all CTQP Certified.

Often specified in the plans, which is becoming more frequent, is the requirement for the shaft to be inspected with a Shaft Inspection Device, before cage and concrete placement. We maintain in-house a Shaft Inspection Device (Mini-SID) for inspecting the bottoms of wet shafts for specification compliance and we maintain and operate a Cross-hole Sonic Logging Unit (CSL) for post-construction nondestructive evaluation, which is typically required on approximately 10%-15% of the installed drilled shafts.

Our Drilled Shaft and Augercast Piles Inspectors are all CTQP certified and possessed the knowledge required to properly monitored these construction activities. This is especially important for drilled shafts since their construction is more susceptible to defects that result from poor construction techniques. H2R is also adept at the collection and analysis of Thermal Integrity Data (TIP).

OPEN AND FREQUENT COMMUNICATION

Many firms and service providers like to use the term “proactive” to describe their approach. We like to think that sitting around waiting for an email from your client is not proactive. H2R will work as a true partner for the City of St. Petersburg, not another coin-operated materials lab. Our contract management approach will be defined by gaining true understanding of the City’s needs and goals, exploring alternative approaches when our experience suggests it may be beneficial, and providing real, honest feedback based on our observations. We encourage regular meetings with our clients on continuing service contracts if only to check in and see what we can do to help them. We provide a transparent process of field and laboratory testing and are happy to provide tours and demonstrations to our clients.

A SMALL FIRM WITH BIG CAPABILITIES

For our size, H2R delivers a broad spectrum of services.

For any services we can’t provide, we are happy to help the City find a reputable supplier who can. We are interested first and foremost in delivering the best work product possible.

H2R takes a comprehensive approach to safety including OSHA and MSHA training for field employees where needed.

Staff for this pursuit possess additional, specialized safety training including railroad safety certifications, nuclear materials safety, and training from Florida Phosphate Producers (FPP). This pool of safety knowledge and practice is maintained on our company intranet in a dedicated Safety Hub, maintained by the safety officers of each our branch offices. Each employee is bound to our Comprehensive Safety Plan (CSP) provided as part of our employee handbook. At the project level, the project manager serves as the Safety Officer for all teams under their authority. We are happy to provide example documentation including certificates, AHAs, and our CSP upon request.

CADD AND GIS CAPABILITIES

H2R uses AutoCAD 2021 as its primary CADD suite and currently does not do perform GIS electronic mapping in house.
