About this file
This is an addendum to the bid documents for the Murphy Dam Outlet Works Improvements Project issued by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) Dam Bureau. Addendum No. 2, dated May 19, 2026, introduces Bid Alternate No. 1 for the replacement of the existing Broome Gate engine assembly and includes an updated bid form. Bids are due Friday, June 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM EST, with hard copy submissions accepted as stipulated in the contract documents. The project scope encompasses comprehensive outlet works improvements at Murphy Dam in Pittsburg, New Hampshire, including 17 primary bid items ranging from mobilization and site preparation to concrete construction, hydraulic gate installation, building rehabilitation, and access road improvements. The base project requires substantial completion by December 1, 2028, and final completion by December 31, 2028.
Bid Alternate No. 1 requires the removal and replacement of an existing gasoline-powered Broome Gate engine (Teledyne Continental Engine, Model F-163) with a new gasoline, diesel, or propane engine meeting specified horsepower and torque requirements, compatible with the existing hoist mechanism, and capable of operating reliably in extreme environmental conditions from -40°F to 110°F. The alternate scope includes structural evaluation and reinforcement of engine mounts, stands, and the walkway bridge to the Broome gate building, as well as engine commissioning, startup testing, and required submittals including sealed structural design details and OSHA-compliant ventilation plans. All bid prices are submitted on a lump-sum basis for the alternate and unit-price basis for primary items, with final payment determined by actual quantities performed. The state reserves sole discretion to accept or reject Bid Alternate No. 1 independent of the base bid, and accepted alternates will be identified in the resulting contract agreement.
