Moyer Pre-Bid Meeng 06/28/2023

Quesons and Answers:

Bridge Locaon: The bridge is located in Salmon and will require delivery by the contractor, although the abutments need to be constructed as part of this contract package.

Quesons and inquiries from the Contractors during the pre-bid meeng.

1. Are the instream work dates correct?

a. A: Yes, July 15 to August 15 2024 are the correct dates for the instream work. Work not within the channel may be performed outside the instream window.

2. What are the ancipated flows for implementaon?

a. A: Approximately < 10 cubic feet per second

3. Are contractors required to have addional fire suppression equipment like water wagons during the implementaon given it is in a drier me of year?

a. A: No, basic requirements for fire exnguishers, shovels, and spark arrestors required in the contract are sufficient.

4. Are there control points located in proximity to the site for survey purposes?

a. A: Yes, they will be flagged prior to implementaon by the Forest Service

5. Can contractors conduct their own survey to ensure elevaons are consistent?

a. A: Yes, they can and are expected to conduct their own survey.

6. Do we have to have a fish screen for pumps?

a. A: Yes, for draing associated with road compacon if draing occurs outside of the dewatered area. Sump pumps within the dewatered area may not require screens if there is no chance that fish can move into the sump.

7. What is the round trip mileage from the bridge site to the Opal Pit?

a. A: It is approximately 14.1 miles from the pit to the site, round trip is esmated as 28.2 miles.

8. Can we close the road to the bridge?

a. Yes, we may need to make minor accommodaon to allow access to a couple of private parcels but the landowners have indicated that they are willing to forego access during construcon with the excepon of an emergency.

9. What area is available for staging materials and equipment.

a. The flat area on the east side of the site is available for these purposes.

10. It was noted that a sample dewatering plan was not included in the drawings, is there a sample plan?

a. We didn’t include a sample dewatering plan; the contractor is sll required to submit for approval their own plan which gives addional flexibility in designing their workspace. It was noted in the field that we expected the most likely diversion would be on the east side of the channel

Discussion items at the site visit:

Containment of fuels and motorized equipment- Pumps and other motorized and fuel stored adjacent to the stream and having the potenal to discharge petroleum products into the stream need to be contained in a manner that will capture spills or overfills.

Coordinaon of fish salvage and sediment monitoring associated with dewatering and rewatering of the channel- Contractor will need to communicate ming of these operaons in advance of performance to ensure required monitoring and salvage occur. FS is commited to providing these services in a manner that minimizes delay to the contractor.
