About this file
This is a Potholing Results Table document supporting the City of Hayward's 22nd Street and Hart Road Waterline and Sewer Rehabilitation Projects, which consists of two distinct Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs) combined into a single bid package. Schedule A (CIP 4136) involves the installation of approximately 4,000 linear feet of zinc-coated ductile iron potable water pipe in sizes of 8", 6", and 4" along SW 22nd Street from Whistling Court to Hall Boulevard, including thirteen waterline connection details and replacement of two existing sewer cleanouts with new manhole structures; potholing is required for select areas of this alignment. Schedule B (CIP 4211) includes approximately 1,800 linear feet of zinc-coated ductile iron potable water pipe with diameters of 12", 8", 6", and 4" along SW Hart Road Traffic Circle, with four waterline connection details; pothole investigations have already been completed for this entire alignment. Both projects are located on heavily traveled residential corridors and will require comprehensive traffic control plans including flagging operations. Construction for each schedule will occur separately and non-simultaneously, with both utilizing a shared Special Provisions Specifications Book.
The potholing results document provides critical subsurface investigation data necessary for accurate bidding and project execution. Contractors must possess appropriate licensing and be registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations for Public Works-Prevailing Wage projects. Insurance requirements include Commercial General Liability, Automobile Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Professional Liability coverage. Standard municipal contract bonds covering 100% of the total contract amount are required, with provisions for performance and labor/materials guarantees. The City of Hayward encourages participation from local vendors, particularly those certified as minority or women-owned businesses, with preference for contractors with experience in similar projects within Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, or San Mateo Counties. The city reserves the right to reject any submissions and may request additional information or engage in further discussions with potential contractors.
