About this file

This specification document outlines the requirements for oil-only absorbent pads as part of Maine's Sorbent Pads and Booms Annual Master Agreement. The requested product must be universal oil-only pads measuring 15" by 19" in size or comparable dimensions, packaged in bales containing 100 pads per unit. Pads must be shrink-wrapped and palletized without exceeding 8 feet in height, with a minimum absorption capacity of at least 25 gallons per bale. Vendors are required to submit sample pads at their own expense prior to contract award for departmental testing and evaluation. No specific construction material is mandated for the pads.

Testing criteria for submitted samples include volume of oil absorbed, absorbency speed, oil retention, water refusal, and abrasion resistance. Bidders must submit descriptive literature detailing the specifications of the pads being offered and provide information regarding minimum order sizes along with pricing that includes shipping costs to the designated destination. Universal pads that are not oil-specific will not be accepted under this specification.
