Q3: Owners typically pay any plan check fees, and if a building permit is required, then we need to know.
CORRECTED Answer: As this is a federal building, city plan check/permit and inspection is not required. However, all work must comply with state and local regulations and requirements, and federal requirements (whichever are greater), per the project documents.
The National Park Service (NPS) will coordinate with the local Fire Department as a curtesy during construction. There will be no contractor coordination required.
Q4: Who is the AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) for both permitting and for inspections?
CORRECTED Answer: The final AHJ is the NPS, as this is federal property, however as the project documents/specifications state, all local and state requirements and regulations for the work must be met.
