About this file

This document is a hot work permit template for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The template requires certification that the hot work operator and equipment are properly trained and equipped with personal protective equipment including respirators. Locations where welding, cutting, brazing, grinding, sandblasting, or chipping will take place must be examined by a competent person to ensure oxygen and gas levels are safe and that ventilation, smoke detectors, fire watches, and fire extinguishing equipment are in place. Approval from the chief marine engineer, officer of the deck, and commanding officer is required before commencing any hot work. Fire watches must be assigned for the full work duration and 30 minutes after, including breaks.
