ATTACHMENT L-4 Scenarios
Scenario 1– The offeror shall describe its approach to serving in an oversight/review role in preparation for a Quality Review for a Visiting Vehicle (VV). The Quality Review is the time when the VV designer is required to provide evidence that the VV’s design meets all RPOC related ISS requirements. Evidence provided normally includes documents that contain analysis and test results. Assume that a NASA-to-VV Designer face-to face review will be held the first two weeks of June 2017. The face-to-face review will be preceded by the evidence documents being delivered to NASA by April 15, 2017 for review by the NASA team. The NASA team will assess the evidence for agreement or to raise issues. Issues will be resolved at the face-to-face meeting. Assume that the document delivery contains 250 documents each containing 200 pages of text, graphs, tables and illustrations. The offeror shall address the approach to providing a complete review of all documents and methods to track unresolved issues that will be discussed at the face-to-face meeting.
Scenario 2– The offeror shall describe its approach to supporting the creation of a high-fidelity computer simulation that provides the functions key to Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C). The simulation is required to support VV oversight/review analyses. This simulation will contain the functions of the VV that are necessary to accomplish its rendezvous, proximity operations and capture/docking roles. The simulation should capture all the GN&C systems, sensors, and effectors so as to fly the appropriate vehicle trajectories, maneuvers and appropriate software modes. Assume that the VV will navigate using Absolute Global Positioning System (GPS), Relative GPS, and laser based rage finders, such as the Jenaoptronik Rendezvous and Docking Sensor (RVS) or RVS 3000. Models should be included for GPS use. It will include other related systems that are necessary to effect the stated roles (example: propulsion and atmospheric property models). The simulation needs to include the ability to conduct Monte-Carlo type analyses. Assume that one year is available for support of this task, including requirements development, architecture planning, simulation coding, one or more preliminary deliveries, verification plan development, verification execution, a qualification review and acceptance and a final delivery. Assume that the software is required to meet NASA NPR 7150.2 Class D requirements (Basic Science/Engineering Design and Research and Technology Software).
