About this file

This document is a comprehensive Work Category Description for a roofing and parking lot project in Newaygo, Michigan, involving The Christman Company as the Construction Manager. The project encompasses multiple work categories, including earthwork, site utilities, flat roofing, sheet metal work, and shingle roofing for what appears to be a middle school and high school facility. The scope includes complete site clearing, excavation, grading, demolition of existing roofing systems, installation of new EPDM and shingle roofing, asphalt paving, site furnishings, and associated utility work. The project requires careful coordination, adherence to specific work hours (Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm), and compliance with environmental and safety regulations, including asbestos and lead-based paint management.

The contract emphasizes strict requirements for waste management, site cleanup, material storage, and coordination between subcontractors. There are specific provisions for permits, inspections, utility coordination, and site-specific safety protocols. A Construction Manager's allowance of $5,000 is included for the earthwork category, and the project requires detailed unit pricing for various elements such as aggregate base, excavation, asphalt sections, and hydro seeding. The work categories must provide full-time on-site supervision, comply with all local and state regulations, and meet specific scheduling and sequencing requirements to ensure project completion within the designated timeframe.
