About this file
This document is a detailed specification for an asphalt shingle roofing project for Newaygo Public Schools, specifically for Newaygo Middle School's reroofing. The project involves installing a new roofing system utilizing laminated-strip asphalt architectural shingles with specific performance requirements, including a 30-year material warranty, 15-year wind-speed warranty up to 110 mph, and a 10-year algae-resistance warranty. The specifications outline precise installation requirements for underlayment, ridge vents, metal flashing, and trim, with detailed instructions for fastening, sealing, and positioning of roofing components.
The roofing materials are required to meet stringent performance standards, including Class A fire resistance, UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance, and algae-resistant granules. The project specifies the use of hot-dip galvanized steel wire shingle nails, self-adhering sheet underlayment, and rigid ridge vents with specific technical characteristics. The manufacturer must provide extra roofing materials (100 sq. ft. of each type) and ensure proper installation techniques that minimize potential water infiltration, wind damage, and structural issues. The specification also includes provisions for thermal expansion, metal protection, and specific installation techniques for valleys, ridges, and flashing.
