About this file
This document is an amendment to a solicitation for acoustic materials for a shoot house facility at Camp Lejeune. The Navy seeks acoustic wood fiber cement boards tested for fire resistance and rated for continuous fire exposure. Additional requirements for splatter/ricochet protection, mold resistance testing, and independent acoustical performance testing were considered but not added to the specification. The amendment also clarifies that the shoot house must meet UFC 4-179-02 standards for small arms ranges. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

CONTINUATION SHEET
1. Question: Division 09 84 20 2.2
In the specification, the fire rating for the acoustical wood fiber cement board does not reference testing by Underwriters Laboratory as a continuous fire testing with the research # provided. Would you consider this additional requirement for the acoustical materials to possess fire protection tested by (UL) Underwriters Laboratory to assure the safety of the users in this shoot house facility?
Answer: The requested additional requirement will not be added to specification section 09 84 20.
2. Question: Division 09 84 20 2.2
Per the specifications you do not include that the acoustical system MUST/SHALL possess splatter and ricochet protection as tested by a branch of the US military or a certified ballistic testing company, as for protection from splatter/ricochet of errant rounds for the users in the shoot house. Would you consider this additional splatter/ricochet protection to the specification for the safety of the users in the shoot house facility as tested by a branch of the US military or certified ballistic testing facility?
3. Question: Division 09 84 20 2.3
The specifications do not include the acoustical materials to possess biological testing for fungi (MOLD) growth from a certified test agency. Since this location is a high humid/wet/warm environment would you consider this additional testing to be a part of the specifications for the acoustical system to ensure there is no mold growth jeopardizing this new shoot house facility, complete with reports as to protect the investment from being replaced due to mold growth?

4. Question: Division 09 84 20 2.2
The acoustical performance specifications do not indicate that the acoustical testing be performed by an independent accredited NVLAP certified laboratory, as no self-certifications can/will be accepted, would you consider adding that the acoustical testing must be performed by an accredited NVLAP certified laboratory to validate the acoustical performance of the acoustical materials and that the testing should be performed from as close as 3 feet away?
5. Question: Division 09 84.20 2.2 Does the P1514 Shoot house located at Camp Lejeune need to meet the United Facilities Criteria UFC 4-179-02?
Answer: P1514 Shoot House is required to meet UFC 4-179-02 Small Arms Ranges.
6. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
