AMENDMENT 0005
Amendment 0005, RFI Questions & Answers
1. Spec section 09-90-00 indicates that the painting subcontractor must have the SSPC QP1
Certification Society for Protective Coatings (formerly Steel Structures Painting Council) (SSPC) which normally applies to structural steel. Does the painting subcontractor have to have this certification on this contract?
A: 09 90 00; Delete section 1.3.2 SSPC QP1 Certification paragraph. SSPC Certification is not required.
2. Please provide the following information.
a. Wood platform dimensions
A: 12’-0”L X 9’-0” W. Including radius. Height 7” Max. (see sheet A-101 and 6/A-501)
b. Door and window jam thickness A: Contractor to verify (E) door and window jam thickness in the field and match new w/existing.
c. More information on the 50 States Background Check, will contractor be required to provide 50 States Background check for employees A: Yes, a 50 States Background check is required for employees that will require access to base.
d. Division 09 51 00 Acoustical Ceiling, type and manufacturer A: Refer to Section 09 51 00; Section 2.1.2; Units for Exposed-Grid System.
e. Division 09 68 00 Carpet manufacturer and weight A: Refer to Section 09 68 00; Section 2.1.2 Modular Tile
f. Division 6, Interior door refinish- will door finish be clear, stained or paint A: Provide clear door finish.
g. Division 6, Interior door-wood please provide hardware schedule A: The hardware for the existing doors will be addressed in a future amendment.
h. Division 06 61 16 Kitchenette please provide style of cabinets and countertops
A: Refer to Section 06 41 16.00 10, Laminate Clad Architectural Casework, Section 2.7 Fabrication; Custom grade, overlay is what is specified.
i. Existing Brick- color or number
A: No brick replacement is required on the project
j. Existing VCT and Mastic—are they asbestos free A: Yes the existing VCT and Mastic have been tested and are asbestos free.
k. Location of electrical panel A: Attached are reference electrical drawings showing the electrical panel locations for building 486, and circuit schedules. Contractor is to review existing drawings for panel locations and circuits for the project work area. Contractor is to coordinate with ROICC during construction for access to electrical panels as required for doing the work and completing the project.
3. Has there been a test for lead paint and asbestos in the VCT for the seed project pertaining to the MiniMac Bid?
A: Testing has been completed. No asbestos or lead paint is present in the VCT or on existing walls in the wing/area of work in the project area.
4. There is an SSPC QP 1 certification requirement for the painting on this project per Spec. section 09 90 00 Para. 1.3.2. This certification is typically reserved for industrial applications such as water towers, bridges, etc. There are a limited number of contractors with this certification, which will drive the price up significantly. Is it the government’s intent to keep this certification in this contract?
A: 09 90 00; delete section 1.3.2 SSPC QP1 Certification paragraph. SSPC Certification is not required.
5. The drawing shows no floor repairs or flooring alterations in Kitchenette 116- Is this accurate?
A: No repairs or flooring alterations will occur in Kitchenette 116. Power washing floor is the extent of work.
6. The corner room beside “102 Girlscout Room” is a bathroom. Current plans call for demo of VCT-this room has tile floor. Please provide revised scope.
A: There is no work in any of the existing bathrooms.
7. All three bathrooms need extensive repairs; will the scope of the project be revised to include the bathroom repairs?
A: No, complete work in accordance with specifications and amendments issued.
8. There are multiple pictures, posters, etc. on the walls- will the occupant be responsible for removing these?
A: Reference Specification 01 14 00; Paragraph 1.2.4 Occupied Buildings; Contractor is to move or store the items per the specifications. The coordination of the removal, storage, and reinstallation of furniture and appliances will occur between the ROICC and General Contractor.
9. There is significant furniture throughout the facility; will the occupant be responsible for relocating and/or storing any portion of it?
A: Reference Specification 01 14 00; Paragraph 1.2.4 Occupied Buildings; Contractor is to move or store the items per the specifications. The coordination of the removal, storage, and reinstallation of furniture and appliances will occur between the ROICC and General Contractor.
10. Note 9 on sheet A-101 states Reinstall Interior Doors after refinishing, Repair or replace (E)
Hardware. Specification section 08 71 00, Page 7, hardware schedule only addresses doors 101 & D1022. Can the hardware schedule be updated so the hardware suppliers will know which doors have hardware that needs to be replaced and the replacement hardware listed for the openings and which ones need repairs and what type repairs need to be made?
A: 08 71 00 Hardware schedule; please correct the hardware set #2 D1022 and change it to read “D102.” The hardware for the existing doors will be addressed in a future amendment.
11. Can we get some clarification on the technical package requirements?
Are we now only required to submit two projects for corporate experience and two for past performance? Are we to use the same two projects for corporate experience and past performance?
A: Yes, two projects must be submitted for corporate experience. Yes, the same 2 projects must be used for past performance.
12. Since there are subcontractors that will need to visit this building can a POC be issued or another site visit scheduled so that they can get access to the building?
A: Another site visit is not currently planned.
13. Will another site visit be scheduled other than Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 9am, for anyone unable to attend that day?
A: Another site visit is not currently planned.
14. Will the attendees of the site visit meeting be posted/available through an upcoming Addendum?
A: We are no longer able to post this information.
