1.) Regarding WI 612-11-001. If it is only a change to stainless steel, Detail 36-D of Reference 2.3 should be specified so that the layout for the new railings would be exactly like the existing only made of thicker stainless steel.

Answer: Wording shall be changed in the work item to reflect the following changes: “install the new handrails in accordance with Reference 2.3 using 2.2 for guidance.” WI 612-11-001 attached.

2.) Work Item 997-28-001 of the subject solicitation for the dry docking of the BAMs requires a

NAVSEA certified drydock. There are currently no NAVSEA certified commercial docking facilities in

Hawaii. In the past the requirements for non-combatant navy vessels and equipment were consisted of provision of a sound dock.

Answer: The Government intends to certify the awardee’s dry dock contingent upon it meeting the

NAVSEA certification requirements.
