File Name: Attachment 22F - CM Ship's Drill Down and Analysis Report sample - 21OCT21 Status: [Status] USNS KANAWHA Analysis and Drilldown Report – SEP 2021
1. Inventory Depth and Range Provided below is the list of MSC ships with a rating of below 90% in either depth or range and a Red/Yellow indicated on the Readiness Indicator/Dashboard. Addressing some of the reasons and criteria as to why the ship is unable to meet the required goals will translate to a variety of benefits to the individual Command and ultimately to MSC. Proactive Depth/Range monitoring is critical to both supply and maintenance operations.
The benefits of properly monitoring Depth and Range include S&E OPTAR savings, decreased requisition lead-time, increased supply and maintenance effectiveness, and increased readiness.
In the analysis, there are three main processes/procedures impacting the majority of the requisitions meeting the analysis criteria:
1. Obsolete/Terminal item Acquisition Advice Codes (AAC)
2. Allowance maintenance – Fleet COSAL Feedback Reports
3. Focus procurement efforts on Material with recorded demand history
a) Inventory Depth and Range by Ship/Class (below 90%)
b) Shortage Report Items with Terminal/Obsolete AACs Requisitions generated for below NIINs will have the tendency to be rejected with obsolete item status leading to an endless loop of Shortage-Requisition-Rejection due to the AAC. Address these items by submitting COSAL Feedback Report (CFBR) in Ship CLIP to get these items removed from the allowance battery or replaced with suitable substitutes addressing any questions with Logistics Type Desk. This will in turn improve the Depth and Range and ultimately increase effectiveness throughout MSC as well as ensuring funds are appropriately utilized on NIINs that will not get rejected due to obsolescence.
USNS KANAWHA
T: Condemned. No longer authorized to be purchased, issued, or used.
V: Terminal Item. Item in stock but no future purchases authorized.
X: Semi-active - No Replacement Non-stocked Item. Stocks on-hand.
Y: Terminal Item. Future purchases not authorized.
c) Items Needing Review of Allowance Possible COSAL Feedback Report
Listed requisitions are a sample of various records rejected via One Touch Support (OTS) due to the item being obsolete, verification of AAC prior to order would have prevented the unnecessary wasted effort and delay in time. When rejection statuses of this type are received it is recommended to:
1. Ship verify allowance with Logistics Type Desk.
2. Submit COSAL Feedback report in Ship CLIP as needed to prevent recurring rejections.
d) Items Listed in Shortage Report with Recorded Demand The following listed shortages are items that reflect demand within the 5-year history with AACs that will not result in rejections. Focusing on procurement of the items that reflect demand will also have the added benefit of increasing Net Effectiveness as well as increasing Depth and Range for the ship.
