Performance Readiness Report
MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND
Attachment 22E
DEPTH AND RANGE
This report serves as a notification of your current inventory status with a percentage-based rating of your on-hand material in Depth and Range scales in conjunction with your shortage report The MSC goals for Depth and Range are 91% and 94% respectively
T-AKE Depth and Range Analysis
Proactive Depth/Range monitoring is critical to both supply and maintenance operations The benefits of properly working Depth and Range include:
S&E OPTAR savings Decreased requisition lead-time Increased supply and maintenance effectiveness Increased readiness Below items directly impact the ability to reach Depth/Range goals within MSC:
Obsolete/terminal item Acquisition Advice Codes (AACs) Allowance maintenance – Fleet COSAL Feedback Reports Focus procurement efforts on material with recorded demand history
Recommended Action Items for Depth and Range:
Requisitions generated for NIINs with AACs of T, V and Y as listed in the shortage report will have the tendency to be rejected with obsolete/terminal item status leading to an endless loop of Shortage-Requisition-Rejection due to the AAC.
Ensure review of AAC on Shortage report prior to requisitioning. Do not order Obsolete/Terminal items Address these items by submitting a COSAL Feedback Report in ShipCLIP for removal from the allowance battery or replacement with suitable substitutes. Questions regarding CFBR can be directed to the Logistics Type Desk (LTD).
This will in turn improve the Depth and Range ultimately increasing effectiveness throughout MSC as well as ensuring funds are appropriately utilized on NIINs that will not get rejected due to obsolescence.
Recommended Action Items for Depth and Range (cont.):
Number of OBSOLETE/TERMINAL items requiring possible COSAL Feedback Report by ship (Including MCC 3 & 4):
ALAN SHEPARD: 12
AMELIA EARHART: 14
MATTHEW PERRY: 13
WASHINGTON CHAMBERS: 12
Focusing on procurement of the items that reflect demand will also have the added benefit of increasing Net Effectiveness as well as increasing Depth and Range for the ship.
Recommended Action Items for Depth and Range (cont.):
Number of OBSOLETE/TERMINAL DLR items requiring possible COSAL Feedback Report by ship:
CHARLES DREW: 1
AMELIA EARHART: 1
MEDGAR EVERS: 1
LEWIS AND CLARK: 3
WILLIAM MCLEAN: 2
MATHEW PERRY: 1
SACAGAWEA: 2
Focusing on procurement of the items that reflect valid AACs for DLRs will allow a better utilization of funds.
