7.1.1.4 Areas of concern are weld seams and frame/joints and appendages.
7.1.1.5 Using fresh water at 2,500 to 3,000 psi, wash down the interior of the tank. Remove all water generated by this operation, as well as any residual water found in the tank prior to the start of washing, and any foreign matter in the tank. Upon completion of all water washing chloride testing shall be performed at random locations. If contamination is found, additional tests shall be made as necessary to determine the extent of contamination and to prove the success of remediation. The maximum allowable contamination concentrations shall be less than 10 ug/cm2 of chloride contaminants as determined by field or laboratory analysis using reliable, reproducible test equipment. Upon completion of all water washing dry the tank.
7.1.1.6 Upon completion of the water washing and drying operations, the entire tank shall be blasted in accordance with SSPC - The Society for Protective Coatings (formerly Steel Structures Painting Council) Surface Preparation Standard SSPC-SP10, Near White Metal Blast. The surface profile achieved shall be a minimum of 2-4 mils.
7.1.1.7 Provide and erect all necessary staging required for proper working conditions and inspections. Provide and maintain adequate lighting of a suitable nature during the course of all surface preparation, coating and inspection activities as stated above.

As a minimum, the equipment shall:
7.2.1.2 Maintain the temperature within the tank at a minimum of 70o F.
7.2.1.3 Effect a complete air change in the tank at least once every one-half (1/2) hour.
7.2.1.4 Maintain the relative humidity in the tank within the limits set by the paint manufacturer for the coating being applied.
7.2.1.5 Maintain a minimum of 5o F. differential between the air and substrate temperatures of the tank and the dew point, with the dew point being the lower temperature.
7.2.1.6 Ducting shall be run so as not to create hazards to personnel transiting the areas through which the ducting is run. Ducting shall further be maintained airtight and in good repair such that it does not contribute to contamination of the vessel's interior or equipment with grit, dust or paint.
7.2.1.7 Protect the vessel and its equipment from damage resulting from this work item. Measures to be taken include, but are not limited to, the following:
7.2.1.7.1 Controllers, motors, and similar electrical equipment in the vicinity of the tank and/or the high pressure water washing equipment shall be covered as necessary to prevent water intrusion.
7.2.1.7.2 Valve stems and reach rod universal joints located within the tank shall be wrapped to prevent inadvertent coating.
7.2.1.7.3 Tank level indicating equipment mounted internally to the tank shall be removed, stored in a safe location and held for reinstallation.
7.2.1.7.4 All suction, fill and vent lines shall be plugged or blanked to prevent entry of foreign matter into the lines.
7.2.1.7.5 Protective covering shall be inspected at regular intervals, but not less than at the start of each work shift. Degraded protective covering shall be repaired prior to the restart of work. Contamination of the vessel and its equipment shall be reported to the COR verbally, immediately upon its discovery, followed by a written report within four (4) hours of the verbal notification. Clean contaminated equipment and showing that the contamination has not caused damage to same. Cost to repair equipment damaged by such contamination shall be borne by the Contractor.
7.3 Paint / Coating Application;
7.3.1 Upon completion of surface preparation work all dust and dirt generated by this work item shall be removed. All internal tank surfaces shall be blown-down with dry, oil free air at a maximum pressure of 10 psi and/or vacuumed clean.
7.3.2 Apply an MSC approved coating system at 5-6mils DFT per coat listed below;
· 1st Coat, Amercoat 240 Buff 5-6 mils DFT.
