The project includes removal of the existing distribution system and installation of a new, complete distribution system serving the existing eight-cell cooling tower. The work shall be performed during the
Spring 2027 scheduled outage and coordinated with Lakeland Electric to ensure the cooling tower is returned to operational service within the required outage work window.
The Contractor shall provide a complete, functional installation in accordance with the requirements of this solicitation and all applicable site, safety, and regulatory requirements.
3.2. Existing Cooling Tower Data
The existing cooling tower at McIntosh Power Plant is a ceramic, eight-cell FRP structure arranged in a back-to-back counterflow configuration. Each cell measures approximately 48 feet long by 48 feet wide by 46 feet tall and includes approximately a 26-foot air inlet, 6 feet of splash fill, and a 30-foot diameter fan with an approximately 10-foot stack.
The cooling tower was originally designed to cool approximately 112,000 GPM of circulating water from
98.8°F to 83.0°F at a 74.0°F wet-bulb temperature. Each cooling tower cell is equipped with a 200-horsepower fan.
Existing cooling tower drawings are provided as attachments to this solicitation for reference. The
Contractor shall review the provided drawings and verify all dimensions, connection points, support locations, existing conditions, and other information necessary to complete the work. Drawings are provided to assist the Contractor in understanding the existing installation and shall not relieve the
Contractor of responsibility for field verification.
3.3. Scope of Work
The Contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and services necessary to complete the cooling tower distribution system replacement.
The work shall include, but is not limited to:
• Removal of the existing cooling water distribution system, including header piping, lateral piping, and spray nozzles.

All components shall be properly installed, secured, and connected to provide a complete distribution system ready for return to service.
Materials shall conform to the requirements of this solicitation. Any proposed substitution or equivalent product shall be clearly identified in the Contractor's bid and shall be subject to review and approval by
OWNER prior to procurement or installation. Approval of a substitution shall not relieve the Contractor of responsibility for compatibility, fit, performance, or completion of the system.
