About this file
This document is a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Form issued by the City of Fort Myers, Florida, with a stated MBE goal of 15% for contract opportunities. The form is designed to document contractors' good faith efforts in obtaining Minority Business Enterprise participation, with spaces for prime contractors and subcontractors to provide detailed information about their proposed MBE involvement. The form requires comprehensive documentation including transmittal letters, contact records, quotation details, and explanations for MBE selection or non-selection.
The form provides a structured approach for contractors to demonstrate their commitment to minority business inclusion, with six distinct steps: capturing prime contractor information, identifying MBE contractor details, recording transmittal letters, documenting telephone or in-person contacts, explaining incomplete or non-responsive quotations, and providing rationale for non-utilized MBE firms. Contractors must specify dollar amounts, contract percentages, project commitment and completion dates, and maintain detailed records of their outreach and communication efforts with minority-owned businesses. The form serves as both a compliance document and a tracking mechanism to ensure meaningful engagement with minority business enterprises in municipal contracting processes.
