The contractor is responsible for obtaining Seminole County Right of Way and NPDES permits, while the City obtains the FDEP Domestic Wastewater Collection/Transmission System Permit. No USACOE permit is required. The contractor must submit signed and sealed bore calculations, directional drill work plans, and maintenance of traffic plans for approval prior to construction.

TO: All holders of Bidding Documents of Record - Addendum No. 3:

This addendum forms a part of and modifies the Bidding/Contract Documents dated May 10th, 2026 for the above referenced project. Bids for the Live Oak Reserve Force Main Replacement are due on June 25, 2026 on or before 2:00 p.m. in the Purchasing Agent's office. Receipt of this addendum must be acknowledged in the space provided on the Bid Form, Section 00300. Failure to do so will subject the Bidder to disqualification.

This addendum consists of twenty-six (26) pages as follows:

Below are Changes, Additions and Clarifications to the Contract Documents dated May 10th, 2026.

GENERAL COMMENTS

1. The Bid Due Date has been extended from Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 2:00pm to Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 2:00pm.

ADDITIONAL CLARIFICATIONS

1. Question: “Are we allowed to temporarily close the connection at each intersection during pipe pulling between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.?”

Response: Closing of intersections will be considered if necessary. The project does not disturb the road in this area. The HDD shall be placed in the median. Contractor is responsible to submit signed and sealed MOT plans to the City and Engineer for review and approval.

2. Question: “During the force main connection, can the pump be shut down or is bypass pumping required?”

Response: Yes, a shut down and bypass is necessary to make the connection. As noted on Sheet C-1, the Contractor is to coordinate with the City utilities for lift station temporary shutdowns and bypassing during tie-in. Cost associated with the lift station bypassing is included in the Bid Form line item No. 12 and shall include utilization of vacuum trucks equivalent to 72,000 gallons over a 6-hour lift station shut down period. Please see revisions to Section 01270, Measurement and Payment, attached hereto and annotated as “Addendum No. 3”, for a detailed breakdown of the Bid Items.

3. Question: “During the open cut near the lift station, can we set up a one lane closure?”

Response: Yes, a partial single lane closure is acceptable during the open cut across Live Oak Reserve Blvd. The Contractor is responsible to submit signed and sealed MOT plans to the City and Engineer for review and approval.

4. Question: “Please advise if ALL Domestic material is required for this project.”

Response: The project was not designed per any funding requirements; hence the domestic material is not required.

5. Question: “Please provide an engineer's estimate per the bonding company's request.”

Response: Per mandatory pre-bid meeting, the cost estimate is $2,000,000.00.

6. Question: “Please provide a Measurement and Payment section broken down by item.”

Response: Please see revised Section 01270, Measurement and Payment, attached hereto and annotated as “Addendum No. 3”, for a detailed breakdown of the Bid Items.

7. Question: “Please advise if signed and sealed bore calcs are required for this project.”

Response: Yes. The Contractor is responsible to submit signed and sealed bore calculations.

Please see revised Section 02405, Horizontal Directional Drilling, attached hereto and annotated as “Addendum No. 3”, for directional drill submittal requirements.

8. Question: “For item 11, please clarify if ARV Vaults or Enclosures are required for this project.”

Response: Please refer to City’s detail No. 16 on the Bid Set Drawings, Sheet D-2 for typical Air or Combination Release Valve and Enclosure.

9. Question: “Please provide a Profile for the Open Cut and HDD connections.”

Response: Please see the Profile Views for the Open Cut and HDD connections in the Bid Set Drawings, starting on sheet C-8.

10. Question: “Please provide the type of sod required for this project.”

Response: Per Section 02920, Grassing, of the specifications, sodding is to match existing adjacent lawns, which is St. Augustine. Reference to any other type of sod is removed for clarity.

Sod shall be either field or nursery grown sod that is native to the locality of the Project. The Contractor shall obtain the Owner’s approval of the source of the sod prior to cutting the sod.

11. Question: “On C-1, FM Connection Detail 1, please advise if the existing 6' Vinyl Fence is to be removed and replaced new or remove and reinstall the existing.”

Response: The existing 6’ Vinyl Fence is to be removed and replaced new to match the existing, length as required. Cost associated with the fence replacement is included in the Bid Form line item No. 12. Please see revised Section 01270, Measurement and Payment, attached hereto and annotated as “Addendum No.3”.

12. Question: “On C-3, please provide a pay item for the root barrier protection.”

Response: The Contractor shall field verify the proposed alignment and position the bore pit location as necessary to avoid damage to the tree roots.

13. Question: OWNER / CONTRACTOR Obtained Permits

Response: Please see permit obtaining responsibility under each category. Please see revised Section 00300, Bid Form and Section 01270, Measurement and Payment, attached hereto and annotated as “Addendum No.3”, for the addition of the Permit Fees Bid Allowance.

Response: No, a USACOE permit is not required for this project.

15. Question: “2.02 Locating Wire - Locating wire shall be color coded 10-gauge steel core copper continuous wire. Color coding shall be similar to pipeline identification colors. A minimum of three locate wires shall be pulled with the pipe. Please confirm if 3 locate wires are required on every pull. Usually, it requires 2.”

Response: Per section 02405 of the specs, three locate wires are required.

SECTION 01270

MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

PART 1 GENERAL

1.01 Section Includes

Measurement and payment provisions, schedule of values.

1.02 General Measurement and Payment Provisions

A. Payment for all work done in compliance with the Contract Documents, inclusive of furnishing all manpower, equipment, materials, and performance of all operations relative to construction of this project, will be made as a lump sum which will be complete payment for all work called for or reasonably inferable from the Contract Documents and other work will be considered incidental to the Contract and no additional compensation will be allowed.

B. The Owner reserves the right to alter the Drawings, modify incidental work as may be necessary, and increase or decrease the work to be performed to accord with such changes, including deductions or additions to the scope of work outlined in the Contract Documents. Changes in the work shall not be considered as a waiver of any conditions of the Contract nor invalidate any provisions thereof. Changes resulting in changes in the scope or quantities of Work or time, or other conditions of work will be basis for consideration of a Change Order which is to be negotiated and executed before proceeding with the work. A supplemental agreement between the Contractor and the Owner will be required when such changes meet the conditions described in the Supplementary Conditions. Work which has not been authorized by a written Change Order will not be subsequently considered for additional payment.

C. The Contractor shall take no advantage of any apparent error or omission in the

Drawings or Specifications, and the Engineer shall be permitted to make corrections and interpretations as may be deemed necessary for fulfillment of the intent of the Contract Documents.

D. If the Contractor makes a claim for an extra or additional cost and requests a

Change Order be issued prior to performing the work, and the Engineer and/or Owner renders a decision denying such request, the Contractor must notify the Engineer in writing within 3 days of the time that the Contractor is informed of the Engineer's decision. Otherwise, the Owner will not consider any such difference as a claim for a Change Order or additional payment or time. Any such written notice received by the Engineer from the Contractor within the 3-day period shall be just reason for the Engineer to re-evaluate his previous decision.

E. Failure on the part of the Contractor to construct any item to plan or authorized dimensions within the specification tolerances shall result in reconstruction to mpersaud Text Box

01270-2 acceptable tolerances at no additional cost to the Owner; acceptance at no pay;

or, acceptance at reduced price, all at the discretion of the Engineer.

F. Work shall not be considered complete until all testing has been satisfactorily completed and the item of work has demonstrated compliance with plans and specifications.

G. A preliminary monthly application for payment shall be submitted to the

Owner/Engineer for review five (5) days prior to the submittal for approval of the Contractor's monthly payment request.

1.03 Measurement and Payment Items

Table A “Measurement and Payment Items” presents description for each Bid Item.

Table A is presented to the Contractor as a reference to define pay items and determine payable amounts, and may not list all the components necessary to fully complete the work. The Contractor shall verify all dimensions, quantities, and details specified on Drawings and herein.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

1 Mobilization/Demobilization, Bonds, and General Conditions

a. Measurement: Measurement of various items for Mobilization and Demobilization shall not be made for payment and all items shall be included in the lump sum price. This lump sum price shall not exceed 5% of the total of all bid items except bid items.

b. Payment: Payment of 75 percent of the applicable lump sum price for the item shall be full compensation for the Work consisting of the preparatory Work and operations in mobilizing for beginning Work on the Contract, including, but not limited to, movement of those personnel, equipment, supplies and incidentals to the project site, preparation of submittals, and for the establishment of temporary offices and buildings, storage area and laydown yard, safety equipment and first aid supplies, project signs, field surveys, sanitary and other facilities required by these specifications, and State and local laws and regulations. The costs of General Work Requirements, bonds, and any required insurance, project signs, and any other preconstruction expense necessary for the start of the work, excluding the cost of construction materials, shall also be included. This Work also consist of the general project management of the Work including, but not limited to, field supervision and office management, as well as other incidental cost for management of the Work during the duration of the Contract. This Work also includes maintenance of the field offices, if applicable, for the duration of the Contract.

this item also consists of demobilization or the operations normally involved in ending Work on the project including, but not limited to, termination and removal of temporary utility service and field offices; demolition and removal of temporary structures and facilities; restoration of Contractor storage areas; disposal of trash and rubbish, and any other post-construction work necessary for the proper conclusion of the Work.

2 Indemnification

a. Payment: In consideration of the Contractor's Indemnity Agreement as set out in the Contract Documents, the City specifically agrees to give the Contractor a maximum of $100.00 and other good and valuable consideration, receipt of which is acknowledged upon signing of the Agreement.

3 Utility Locates in Advance of Construction

a. Measurement: Measurement for Utility Locates in Advanced of Construction shall be based on satisfactory completion of locating the existing utilities within the construction limits in accordance with City requirements and specifications.

b. Payment: Payment of the applicable Contract lump sum price as indicated in the Bid for Utility Locates in Advanced of Construction will include all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to locate the existing utilities in accordance with the City requirements and specifications.

4 Maintenance of Traffic

a. Measurement: Measurement for Maintenance of Traffic shall be based on satisfactory Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) in accordance with City of Oviedo requirements and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) standards.

b. Payment: Payment of the applicable Contract lump sum price as indicated in the Bid for Maintenance of Traffic will include all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to maintain public roadway and pedestrian traffic including, but not limited to, flag men, uniformed police officers, barricades, warning lights/flashers, and safety ropes. Also included is furnishing, installing and maintaining a Traffic Control Plan, control and safety devices, control of dust, temporary crossing structures over trenches, any necessary detour facilities, and other special requirements for the safe and expeditious movements of traffic. Contractor is responsible to submit signed and sealed MOT plans to the City and Engineer for review and approval.

5 Preconstruction Video

a. Measurement: Measurement for Preconstruction Video shall be based on the satisfactory submittal of a comprehensive preconstruction video in accordance with the City requirements and specifications (Section 01315).

b. Payment: Payment of the applicable Contract lump sum price as indicated in the Bid for Preconstruction Video will include all labor, materials, and mpersaud

equipment necessary to create a comprehensive pre-construction video in accordance with the City requirements and specification.

6 Remove and Replace Tree

a. Measurement: Measurement for Remove and Replace Tree shall be made per actual number of trees to be removed and replaced. The trees shall be replaced “like-for-like”, or similar caliper.

b. Payment: Payment will be made at the contract unit price bid per actual number of trees as indicated in the Bid for Remove and Replace Tree.

Payment of the applicable Contract unit price shall be full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment to remove and replace trees “like-for-like”, or similar caliper.

7 Furnish and Install 10” PVC Force Main w/ Fittings

a. Measurement: 10” PVC Force Main installation shall be measured in actual linear feet satisfactorily furnished and laid, as measured along the length of the centerline of the completed pipeline, regardless of the type of joint required, without deduction for the length of valves and fittings.

b. Payment: Payment will be made at the contract unit price bid per linear feet as indicated in the Bid for Furnish and Install 10” PVC Force Main w/Fittings. b. Payment: Payment will be made at the contract unit price bid per linear feet as indicated in the Bid for Furnish and Install 10” HDPE Directional Drill Force Main. Payment of the applicable Contract unit price shall be full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment to make a connection from the constructed force main to the existing force main including coordination with existing utilities, protection of existing utilities, excavation, sheeting, shoring and bracing, dewatering, cutting pipe, completely drain and properly dispose of existing pipe contents, connection to existing force main, all necessary tapping sleeves and valves, fittings, reducers, bends, tees, wyes, restraint of existing force main in accordance with the City requirements, backfill, compaction, grading, swabbing, restoration, removal and replacement of fences, length as required, and gates, clean-up and all sod. This item also includes a submittal of a comprehensive bypass plan with assumption of utilizing vacuum trucks equivalent to 72,000 gallons over a 6-hour lift station shut down period.

13 Remove and Dispose of 10” Force Main

a. Measurement: Removal and disposal of the existing 10” Force Main, regardless of material, shall be measured in actual linear feet satisfactorily excavated, removed, and salvaged pipe in accordance with the City requirements and specifications (Section 02650). Pipe removal shall be measured along the centerline without deduction for valves and fittings. Also included in this item is the removal and salvage of items including air release valves and vaults.

b. Payment: Payment will be made at the contract unit price bid per linear feet as indicated in the Bid for Remove and Dispose of 10” Force Main.

Payment of the applicable Contract unit price shall be full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment to sheet, shore, and brace;

14 Grout and Abandoned In-Place 10” Force Main

a. Measurement: Grout and abandonment of the 10” Force Main shall be measured in actual linear feet satisfactorily gout filled and abandoned in-place, in accordance with the City requirements and specifications (Sections 03600 & 02650). Pipe abandonment shall be measured along the centerline without deduction for valves and fittings.

b. Payment: Payment will be made at the contract unit price bid per linear feet as indicated in the Bid for Grout and Abandon In-place 10” Force Main.

Payment of the applicable Contract unit price shall be full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment to drain and properly dispose of pipe contents, fill with grout (flowable fill) and plug each end of the pipe using a concrete plug in a manner acceptable to the City. This item includes cutting and capping each end of the pipe, tapping sleeve(s), and capping of valve(s). Also included in this item is the removal of existing valve boxes located on valves connected to piping designated to be retired.

Valve boxes shall be removed, backfilled and compacted with suitable material.

15 Remove and Replace Existing Sidewalk

a. Measurement: Removal and replacement of the existing sidewalk shall be measured in actual square yards of sidewalk removed and replaced. Width of replaced sidewalk shall match that of existing sidewalk. Thickness of pavement shall match existing sidewalk.

b. Payment: Payment will be made at the contract unit price bid per square yard as indicated in the Bid for Remove and Replace Existing Sidewalk.

Payment of the applicable Contract unit price shall be full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment for saw-cutting, removal and proper disposal of existing concrete, compaction, form work, concrete replacement, restoration, and clean-up for a complete installation.

16 Remove and Replace Concrete Curb and Gutter

a. Measurement: Removal and replacement of the concrete curb and gutter shall be measured in actual linear feet removed and replaced measured along the centerline of the curb within the excavation of the trench to a maximum width equal to the width of asphalt pavement cut. All additional curb and gutter damaged shall be replaced by the Contractor at his own expense.

b. Payment: Payment will be made at the contract unit price bid per linear feet as indicated in the Bid for Remove and Replace Concrete Curb and Gutter.

17 Open Cut and Restore Asphalt Roadway

a. Measurement: Open cut and asphalt roadway restoration shall be measured in actual square yards of existing asphalt paving and subgrade removal and replacement furnished and installed in accordance with the City requirements and specifications. The width measured for payment of asphalt surface repair, as measured perpendicular to the centerline of the pipe, shall be limited to the width shown on the Drawings. The length shall be as measured along the centerline of the pipe.

b. Payment: Payment will be made at the contract unit price bid per square yard as indicated in the Bid for Open Cut and Restore Roadway. Payment of the applicable Contract unit price shall be full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to provide a safe, smooth driving surface. The Work shall include saw cutting; pavement removal and proper disposal of exiting pavement, installing prime coat, tack coat, and asphalt, compaction, traffic signalization repair, and temporary striping and markings in accordance with the City requirements and specifications.

Payment will be made once and shall include both temporary and permanent Asphalt Roadway Replacement.

18 Permit Fees Bid Allowance

a. Payment: In consideration of the Contractor's expenses associated with permitting fees, the City specifically agrees to give the Contractor a $1000.00 allowance. The Permit Fees Bid Allowance will include permitting fees to be paid to the governing agencies in the effort to obtain Seminole County Right of Way and NPDES permits.

1.04 Schedule of Values

A. Submit Schedule of Values for approval prior to commencing construction. The Schedule of Values shall be the basis for making payment applications and establishing prices for Change Orders.

HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLING

1.01 This Technical Special Provision Includes

The Work specified in this section consists of furnishing and installing underground utilities using the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method of installation, also commonly referred to as directional boring or guided horizontal boring for pressure pipe.

This Work shall include all piping services, equipment, materials and labor for the complete and proper installation testing, restoration of underground utilities and environmental protection and restoration. Provide copies of bore profile matching project stationing.

1.02 References

A. American Water Works Association (AWWA), latest edition:

1. AWWA C901 - Polyethylene Pressure Pipe and Tubing, ½ Inch Through 3 Inch for Water Service

1.03 Shop Drawings and Submittals

B. Prior to beginning Work, the Contractor must submit a work plan detailing the procedure and schedule to be used to execute the Project. The Work plan should include the following:

3. A list of personnel and their qualifications and experience

1. The Contractor will submit specifications on directional drilling equipment to be used to ensure that the equipment will be adequate to complete the Project. Equipment shall include but not be limited to the following:

a. Drilling rig

b. Mud system

c. Mud motors (if applicable)

d. Down-hole tools

e. Guidance system and

f. Rig safety systems

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 Pipe

A. Directional drilling of HDPE pipe shall be limited to wetlands, canal crossings and road crossings as approved by Engineer.

B. Pipe shall be HDPE pipe with ductile iron pipe outside diameters in accordance with

AWWA C900 (C905) or C906 respectively. The dimension ratio shall be verified by the Contractor based on the pipe, joint and material pull strength required for the directional drilling.

C. HDPE Pipe

1. HDPE pipe and related fittings shall be made with prime virgin resins exhibiting a minimum cell classification as defined in ASTM D3350 and meeting the PE 3408 code designation with maximum dimension ratios equal to the following.

2. HDPE pipe 4-inch and larger nominal diameter shall be joined by means of zero leak-rate butt (thermal heat) fusion welds and/or approved flanged joints.

Joints shall provide axial pullout resistance. Pipe shall meet the requirements of ANSI/AWWA C906, and have an outside diameter dimension of ductile iron pipe. Flanged joints shall not be used below finished grade for horizontal mpersaud

3. HDPE pipe shall have been continuously marked by the manufacturer with permanent printing indicating at a minimum the following:

i. Nominal size (inches);

ii. Dimension ratio (DR);

iii. Pressure rating (psi);

iv. Trade name;

v. Material classification (PE 3408);

vi. Plant, extruder and operator codes;

vii. Resin supplier code;

viii. Date produced; and

ix. HDPE pipe used for portable water mains shall bear the NSF Seal of

Approval.

x. HDPE pipe shall be black in color with permanent-colored stripes extruded into the pipe length or shall be one solid color, per the applicable service. At least 3 locate wires shall be fastened to the pipe.

xi. Installation Curvature: All pipe shall be installed within 75% of the allowable bending radius as permitted by the pipe manufacturer. The installed radius shall not be less than 1.5 times 30 times the pipe diameter (in).

xii. Conduct low pressure air test prior to pulling pipe. Conduct an independent pressure test following installation and before connecting to the other piping.

2.02 Locating Wire

Locating wire shall be color coded 10-gauge steel core copper continuous wire. Color coding shall be similar to pipeline identification colors. A minimum of three locate wires shall be pulled with the pipe. Contractor shall be required to provide as many wires as necessary to maintain continuity throughout the length of the directional bore. Locating wire shall be secured to carrier pipe.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 Procedure

The installation of appropriate safety and warning devices in accordance with the “FDOT

Manual on Traffic Control” and Safe Practices shall be completed prior to beginning

WORK.

3.02 Field Testing

A. HDPE Pipe:

After installation, all air shall be removed from pipe prior to testing. HDPE shall be pressure tested following the drill and again once connections to other pipe materials are made.

1. Test Duration:

The total test time including initial pressurization, initial expansion and time at test pressure, must not exceed eight hours. If the test is not completed due to leakage, or equipment failure, the test section shall be depressurized and allowed to “relax” for a minimum of eight hours before it is brought back up to test pressure. The test procedure consists of initial expansion phase and leakage test phase.

2. Initial Expansion Phase:

During the initial expansion phase, the test section is pressured to the test pressure and enough make-up liquid is added each hour for three hours to return to test pressure.

3. Leakage Test Phase:

The leakage test phase follows immediately after the expansion phase and shall be either two or three hours in duration. At the end of the time test, the test section shall be returned to test pressure by adding a measured amount of liquid. No leakage is permitted.

C. Pressure Testing:

The hydrostatic pressure test for the pipe shall be 150 psi for a period of 2 hours for water, reclaimed water and wastewater.

D. As-builts

Provided detailed bore profile in state plan coordinates at no more than 20 LF increments. Drilled pipe will not be paid without bore files to assure installation location.

GRASSING

1.01 Section Includes

Soil preparation, sodding, seeding, mulching, fertilizing, watering, maintenance of grassed areas and clean-up.

1.02 References

A. Florida Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, latest implemented edition.

1.03 Submittals

A. All sod shall have a valid and current state of Florida, Division of Plant Industry (DPI) inspection certification prior to being transported to the construction site.

Submit the DPI certification to the Owner and maintain a copy of the certification onsite with the construction records.

B. Tickets from each sod pallet of sod delivered to the site shall be provided to the

Owner. The tickets are to identify the sod type, the sod farm (source) of the sod, and the date the sod was cut.

1.04 Quality Assurance

A. Sod shall be no more than 10% brown per piece of sod when delivered to the site and shall be free of weeds and other grass contamination.

B. Sod shall be delivered to the site no more than 48 hours after it has been cut and shall be installed upon delivery. Sod shall be fresh and uninjured.

C. Sod shall have a soil mat of sufficient thickness adhering firmly to the roots in order to withstand all necessary handling.

1.05 Delivery, Storage, and Handling

A. Sod delivered to the site shall be in pallets, with sod pieces generally 16-inches by 24-inches (+/-) with no sod piece smaller than 12-inches on any side.

B. Sod delivered to the site shall be kept out of direct sunlight and shall be kept moist until installation.

C. Sod not meeting these specifications upon delivery as determined by the Owner shall be removed from the project site and not installed.

1.06 Certification

A. Sod shall have a valid and current State of Florida, Division of Plant Industry (DPI) inspection certification prior to being transported to the construction site.

B. Submit the DPI certification to the Owner with a copy of the certification maintained onsite with the construction records.

1.07 Maintenance

A. Maintenance for lawns shall begin immediately after sodding. Provide fertilizing, watering, mowing and replanting and continue as necessary until a close healthy stand of specified grasses is established.

B. Mowing and watering shall be continued until project completion as directed by the Owner.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 Lime

A. Lime shall be agricultural grade dolomitic limestone, ground sufficiently fine so that at least 80 percent will pass through a No. 8 sieve, and it shall contain not less than 80 percent calcium carbonate equivalent. Moisture content at time of delivery shall not exceed 8 percent.

2.02 Fertilizer

A. Fertilizer shall be a composition recommended by a local County Agricultural Agent or State Agricultural Extension Service or a preformulated 10-6-4 mixture.

2.03 Water

A. Water shall be free from oil, acid, alkali, salts, and other harmful substances.

2.04 Sod

A. Sodding is to match existing adjacent lawns and shall be well matted with grass roots.

B. Sod shall be either field or nursery grown sod that is native to the locality of the

Project. The Contractor shall obtain the Owner’s approval of the source of the sod prior to cutting the sod.

C. Sod grown on soil high in organic matter, such as peat, will not be acceptable.

The consistency of sod shall be such that it will not break, crumble or tear during handling and placing. Sod shall be reasonably free of stones, crab grass, noxious weeds, and other objectionable plants or substances injurious to plant growth.

D. Sod shall have at least 1 inch of soil adhering firmly to the roots and cut in rectangular pieces with the shortest side not less than 12 inches. At the time of cutting sod the grass shall be mowed to a height not less than 2 inches nor more than 4 inches.

E. Sod cut for more than 48 hours shall not be used without the approval of the

Owner.

F. Bermuda Sodding shall be 419 Tifway Bermuda.

G. Bahia Sodding shall be Argentine Bahia Sod.

H. If so designated on the drawings, Bahia Sodding along coastal areas subject to high salt content shall be Seashore Paspalum Bahia (Paspalum), such as Sea Isle 1, as produced by Turfgrass America, or approved equal.

I. St. Augustine sodding is to be provided in those areas where the adjacent sod is

St. Augustine sod.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 General

A. All grassing, whether temporary or permanent, will be inspected by the Owner or the Owner’s representative at the time of installation or shortly thereafter to determine whether it is acceptable in accordance with these specifications. Any sod found to be unacceptable shall be removed and replaced with new sod within 48 hours (prior to root establishment) as directed by the Owner.

B. Grassed areas will be inspected by the Owner or the Owner’s representative throughout the construction period, not just at project completion. Any established sod subsequently found to be unacceptable shall be removed and replaced with new sod within 7 calendar days as directed by the Owner.

3.02 Timing Requirements

A. Grass all disturbed areas, whether temporary or permanent grassing, within 7 days of initial disturbance.

B. Permanently grass disturbed areas after all required testing is complete.

3.03 Regrading of Topsoil

A. Topsoil shall be graded reasonably smooth and level after final settlement. All humps shall be removed and depressions or eroded areas filled in with additional topsoil before proceeding with sodding.

3.04 Preparation for Sodding

A. Preparation shall not be started until all other site and utility work and finished grading within the areas to be sodded have been completed.

B. Loosen topsoil by tilling it to a depth of at least 3 inches and smooth out all surface resulting irregularities. Leave area free of rocks or hard soil clods that will not pass through the tines of a standard garden rake.

C. At least 7 days before applying fertilizer, spread lime uniformly in sufficient quantity to produce a soil pH of 6.5. Work lime thoroughly into topsoil to a depth of 3 inches.

D. Apply fertilizer uniformly at a rate of 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Work fertilizer into soil prior to sodding.

E. The area over which sod is to be placed shall be scarified or loosened to a depth of 2 inches and then raked smooth and free of debris.

F. The area shall be graded as needed to ensure the new sod matches the existing sod grade.

3.05 Sodding

A. Sodding operations shall follow immediately behind operations for the preparation of the areas for sodding and shall generally take place on the same day.

B. Provide sod in areas indicated on the Drawings. Generally, all disturbed areas are to be sodded. Sodding shall also be used in ditches and drainage swales and on all embankment slopes steeper than 3 to 1 unless protection is provided against erosion.

C. Sod which has been cut for more than 72 hours prior to installation shall not be used unless specifically authorized by the Owner.

D. Place sod with the edges in close contact and alternate courses staggered.
